If You Could Have Picked Your Own Name

I was supposed to be Ellen.....I don't look like an Ellen.

My name is Shelley, with 2 E's and is not short for Michelle.

And Mermaid.....I can't imagine calling you Heather all these years!! Porrie Pan, yes. Heather, no.

My name is Lorelei and nobody can ever spell it or pronounce it.

I know just how you feel.. I have always had the same problem.

My name is never pronounced correctly or even spelt correctly.

It's actually quite easy to pronounce once you know how.......

Auriel........just like the mans name Rory........only with an A in front & an L on the end.;)

I always hated Tina growing up. It's not Christina or anything, just Tina. It is actually Tina Marie (UUGHH!) and that's what my mother wanted everyone to call me.

Hey! I have a cat named Teena Marie. I inherited the cat and the name but I've been told she was named after a singer.

I've always thought my name, Peggy, was a bit old fashioned. The only other Peggys I meet are usually quite a bit older. I like it fine though and prefer it to names that seem so common that you can't walk into a room without meeting someone with that name, like my middle name Ann. I don't use it unless someone insists on calling me "Peggy Sue" after that old song.

My own children are named Michaela D (so that she can pick her own middle name when she is older) and Samantha Bell (Bell is after my late mom's maiden name).

Peggy2001, did you know that Peggy is a nickname for Margaret? I never could figure that one out!

Yes, I knew that and I could not determine why. It doesn't seem to fit. I was always grateful not to be named Margaret. ;)

I am quite happy with my name...Lesley Ley (Ley pronounced like Lee). Most people call me Les or Lessy. I recently decided that if i ever get married, i will probably keep my last name also.

I would have been Antoine if i were a boy and other girl possiblities were Addison or Candice.

I like my name-Juliana...but it FOREVER! spelled wrong(people love to spell it with 2 n's) and also pronounced wrong(it's juli-on-a...not juli-ann-a)
I was gonna be Timothy if I was a boy...lol

My full name is Rebecca, buteveryone has called me Becky since I was born. I've always liked my name, although I wish that my name were more unique. Someday, when I have a little girl, I want to name her Annelise.

I would have kept Raymond Bradley. Brad isn't that common, but its a nice name. I like not having the same name as 3-4 other kids in my class.

I'm a Katherine, but have gone by Kate since I was little. I was almost named Alexis (not bad, but not great either) or Meredith, which I love -- the boy and I have already agreed that if we ever have children, and one of them is a girl, she'll be Meredith Jeanne (Jeanne is his maternal grandmother's name, and was my paternal grandmother's birth name though she changed the spelling to Jean.)

Had I been a boy, I would have been named Booger. Not really, but apparently my dad thought that was the most hilarious thing in the world to tell people.

Both my sister (Ashley Mei) and myself were to be named Mathieu Douglas if we were boys. My Mother loved the name and my Father wanted the French spelling.

But when my brother was born, my Mother had a crush on Jared from the show "Big Valley". He was named Jared Mathieu. No one could pronounce or spell his name growing up - he was Jerry, Gerald, Gerard, Jarrett

dad wanted Julie and mom wanted Crystal...but grandma wanted Lisa and here i am-Lisa Ann, Ann being grandma's middle name. i never liked Lisa when i was younger, would have liked to have been something more trendy, which at the time wasn't much. lots of Diane's, Judy's, Kathy's; i wanted to be Kylie or Hayley.

for dd, i wanted Brianna and mom wanted Selena-ended up with Stephanie, after her dad steve. would've been Timothy if a boy.

for ds-dd, dh and i all agreed-Alex if a boy and Valerie if a girl. we have Alex (not Alexander) Michael!

Mom wanted to name me Lisa, Dad wanted to name me Michelle....Mom won but Dad's not a total loser - Michelle's my middle name...

Anyway, I would have liked to been named "Caia Elisabeth"...I think it's beautiful and I plan on naming my daughter that some day.... :)

My 2 older children (David & Cassandra) went to school with way to many Mandy's (Amanda's), why?

From the late 70's to early 80's Barry Manilow had this song out "OH Mandy":bounce:

My 3rd son Matt is in school with a million Ashley's, can't figure that one out.

Last daughter Callie has a lot of Megan's.

I think I am thinking way to much this morning, sorry.
