Would you keep the same one or have picked something different?

When I was born, my Mother wanted to name me Deborah, but my Father loved the song, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen". He won, but think I would have liked to have been Kelley.

Dad wanted Katelyn, Mom wanted Kathryn. Katelyn at that point was unheard of, so Mom won. Two years later, Katelyn was THE name. It doesn't matter much to me - I like both, and I like being a Kate/Katie/Katelyn/Kathryn. I was Katie as a kid, then Kate in college, but my close friends call me Kater. It's a good, flexible name. :)

My dad wanted Elizabeth Gay and mom wanted Lisabeth Gabrielle. I ended up with Lisabeth Gay officially but use Lisabeth Gabrielle now. I hate the name Gay.

As a child I remember wishing my name was Katherine or
Alexandria....but I'm just Lisa....I can't imagine being Grandmom Lisa....it sounds like a kids name!

Although I like my name, my deadbeat-dad wanted to name me Michelle.

At this point I think that would have been cute as I married a Michael. But if I were to change my name it would probably be Julianne.

Great thread!

I have always loved my name. I think it helps that I was named after my favorite aunt.

What an interesting question!

Hmmmm, I'm Deborah, but I really like it. Depending on who is calling me, I can be Deb, Debbie, Debster, 'Ster, or (when my folks were angry with me ;) ) Deborah Jean!

I don't know what I would have chosen.

I think I'd like to be an Alexandria, or Lindsay or my Zoe!

My name is Victoria Alicia, and I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, I'd rather be Mrs. Javy Lopez or Mrs. Scott Stapp :teeth:

My name is Suzette Michele, and as a child I hated it. I always hated that my friends were able to buy all kinds of cute things with their names on it and all I could ever find that was close was Susan or Suzanne. Now that I am older and have named 3 children of my own, I think about how special it is to choose a name for your child and how much love and time goes into it. Now, I love my name because it is a special gift from my parents that I will have for my entire life!

My name is Kathleen but only one of my uncles calls me that. I've always been Katie as a kid and Kate as an adult.
I used to want to be named Brooke, but in college aquired a fondness for my name. Now if I have kids, then she will be Brooke & he will be Devon.;)

My name is Patricia, which isn't such a bad name, I go by that or Patti. But I hate, hate, hate Pat. It sounds like a guy name to me, yet strangers that see my full name just automatically shorten it to Pat.

I don't really know what name I'd rather have, but my parents second choice was Kathleen, and I think I would have liked that better.

Just to inject a funny note to this post, the reason I brought up the subject was we were discussing 3 sisters who work for the company. Their last name is Seed and their parents named the Caraway, Poppy and Sesame...........I kid you not!........... Bet they'd like to change those names.

I'm Valerie Jeanne. I like Val, but dislike being called Valerie (I like the name, though) because it sounds too formal and as if someone is upset with me.

My parents wanted to name me Pamela, but my initials (first, last name) would have been "PU". So, my Dad wisely said no.

My DH sister's name is also Valerie, but it's Valerie Ann. My MIL insists on using my middle name when writing it, to differentiate between me and her daughter, but she keeps spelling Jeanne with one "N". But then again, she spells Grammy with one "M", so there ya go!

Our DD's name is Carly Justine and we still love it as much as when we named her that 17 years ago. We had a name all picked out for our second adopted child (Paige Jaclyn), but were not able to go ahead with the adoption because Korea curtailed their adoptions at that time.

My name is Bridget, which I HATED growing up, I wanted my name to be Michelle, I always planned to change my name to Michelle Anderson when I turned 18. Obviously I didn't, but I sure wanted to when I was young.

I post alot on WISH, but this is my first post on the CB.

I'm Carmen Marie and hated it as a kid. I was called Farmin, Charmin, Carmen-gia, Carmen Miranda, Carmen San Diego, etc.

As an adult, I like my name, but if I were to choose, it would probably be Paige or Liz.

We have 2 dd and named them Victoria ElisaBeth (after my sis Beth) and Veronica Marie.

We're so lucky to be able to talk about this trivial stuff! My husband, who's José Ernesto, has never even entertained this question and probably never will! He grew up during a civil war in El Salvador and never had a chance to relax long enough to think about these "important" life questions!

We are so blessed!!!!

Carmen

I was almost ABIGAIL   and my sister was going to be John (they were SURE she was going to be a boy   )

But I've always like the name Catherine . . .

Your story about the Seed sisters was too funny!!

We knew of a family who had 4 daughters. They were named April, May, June, and Victoria (I guess they didn't think July sounded good . . .)

My name is Kamy. Not Cammie or Cammy or Camille. LOL!
My name was going to be Bobbi, but my mom changed it last minute....either way I wouldn't have liked it. LOL!
Growing up I had terrible nicknames and always said I would change my name...never did though. But like Lisa, I cannot see being "Grandma Kamy"......makes no sense to me! LOL!!! Sounds like a kids name...or something! LOL!
It is an okay name, it has grown on me....but most people mess it up, either the spelling or they think I say Kimmy or Tammy.

When I was growing up I wanted to be Samantha in the worst way.
Then in my teen years I wanted to be Megan.
Now I like my name but I'd like to be Katherine or Kathleen.
