If you could get a DVC job, what would it be?

I've often daydreamed about this question...and ...

I would like to be a tour CM for newbies in the MK. :flower:

Sharing all the park secrets, history of the carousel (that came from Palisades Park, NJ), Liberty Tree, Main St.'s window history, utilidor touring, ring @ the HM....etc

I would like to be the head of Customer (Guest) Service. I feel that the attitude of the castmembers falls from above and I would love to show them that not all Guests are bad people, just that they have been jaded to believe this.

Give me control of Guest Service at any location and watch the PMA explode!

I'd like to do LOTS of things. In my "younger" performer days, I would like to have been a performer at WDW...I have students who perform there now...I never realized that it was relatively easy to get on as a performer!!

But, now...I think I would REALLY like to be a WDW "decorator". They have 30 warehouses the size of aircraft hangers where they assemble Chistmas decorations YEAR-ROUND. Then, they move them all on trucks in one-night. I think I would like to be a part of that.

But, I would also like to be a seamstress for WDW...I'd love to make their costumes.

But, really....I think I would most enjoy being a DVC GUIDE!!!!

I would love to captain one of the boats for the Illuminations Cruises. Or, I could drive the steam engine around MK. choo-choo- ::MickeyMo

Ooh! Can I be a "secret shopper" for the DVC resorts. I also want to moonlight to come up with new DVC merchandise. So many ideas....

Great thread by the way.

My first thought was a MS reservationist, then Room assigner, jungle cruise capt (as my non DVC choice) but I also like the idea of Decorator or landscaping.

I'd lay in a beach chair all day demonstrating to guests the best way to do nothing gloriously.

Easy to get on as a performer? That's not what I've been told by lots of performers there. I've also known people who've auditioned multiple times. Disney has a reputation for only hiring the most talented performers. Sounds like your students are pretty talented to be performing there, not performing there just because it's "easy"-it isn't!

I want to be the guy who fills up all of the fish food machines around the world--you know--the ones you put a quarter in and out comes food for the fish. How hard can that be!? Sounds like a great retirement job!

I think I'd love working at the front desk/guest services....mainly so that I could help people get a magical start to their visit or help them resolve any difficulties they're having. Also, I find it quite amusing to kill the awful folks with kindness...you know, the ones who are going to be nasty no matter what you do? Keep smiling, do all I can and then tell them "I'll be happy to get a manager for you" and make sure I pass them along to the manager who won't give in to bullying. Actually management would be fine too...I'd really love to help folks who need it. I was really disgusted to hear a guest with sopping wet carpets in her room be told that they couldn't help her at all once at the BVW. It was the first time I was checking in there and I have to say I was scared my nightmares would come true.

My dh said he'd like to just walk around sweeping and emptying trash cans...just to be in the parks. Personally, I don't think I'd like working in the parks at all...mainly because I think it would wear off some of the magic.

I would love to be a DVC Guide* :earsgirl:

I would also love to plan some vacations, getting reservations done, like the concierge CM do.

I am adding another pick that I thought of while sitting in traffic today.

I would LOVE to steer the boat from OKW-SSR-DTD, chatting with folks and taking in the wonderful sceniery.

Disney transportation .... warm in the winter ... cool in the summer ... meet lots of interesting people.
Second choice would be working the front desk the same reasons.

Would you work at one of the resorts? If so, doing what? Management (what type?)? MS? My dream used to be to take over for Art the greeter, but I could never do as great a job as he does, so my new dream: Work in the general store at OKW, then at the end of the day hop a bus back to my villa (of course I live there) or go over to Epcot for dinner and to see Illuminations (for about the 3 thousandth time). What's your dream job?
:flower: I want to be Mary Poppins! :flower:

My dream job has always been to work at the Poly. Lately I have revised that to the DVC job at the Poly... There is a DVC desk there, where the old "News from Civilization" store used to be - - right in that gorgeous lobby. The combo of DVC job/Poly seems unimaginably wonderful to me.

I want to be the button pusher at the ToT that drops the guests to their doom!

I would like to be the helper on one of the Friendship boats. Maybe I could learn to drive one, but for sure I could handle the ropes.

Bobbi

Where's the little boat smilie?

DW has decided that she wants to be one of the Haunted Mansion CMs. She was practising her spiel at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner last night at Church. I'm going to wear the purple pants and drive a bus around WDW -- or maybe a tram somewhere.

"You people parked in the Dopey section. You are the Dopey people. Dopey. Dopey. Dopey. Remember folks -- you are Dopey."

Wow, I love this thread.

I would like to be in MS making magic for vacationers or at the front desk at the resort, welcoming people and helping them have a great vacation.

The family plan is to relocate in 2006, maybe the dream will come true.
