DVC Veterans- knowing what you know about the DVC resorts, fees, locations, sizes etc. If you were to buy into DVC now what resort would you buy into? :grouphug:

I would buy into the same ones I did buy into...VWL and BWV.

I prefer those resorts to the others and wouldn't have bought anything differently knowing what I do today about maintenance fees, etc. I bought where we wanted to stay the most and if people do that, they shouldn't have any second thoughts down the road. :)

I would buy into the BWV and BCV, where I currently own.

No second thoughts here! :thumbsup2

We bought SSR for the extra 12 years and lowest maintenance fees. We like this resort, but will attempt to stay at all of them (able to get OKW, BCV, and VWL for this New Year's - our DVC sampler). We also bought a small contract at BCV to guarantee us a stay there every two or three years.
We are very happy with our choice. :sunny:

I'd still be buying OKW, but I'd likely have to buy another contract when AKV opens. I might still do that anyway!

I would have bought into BCV when it first came out. Love that resort.

We own at BWV and my favorite resort is VWL. I'm very content with BWV and glad I bought there when I did.

But if I were doing it today, the lower buy in cost and dues at OKW would probably win me over. We love the BWV location, and don't drive, so OKW might change the way we vacation - more rental cars. At the time I was able to get the BWV contract at the same price as the OKW contract - OKW didn't have a pool slide, and the OKW contract we originally bid on resale fell through.

I've never stayed at OKW and have really no intention of doing so - my Standard View BWV points are nearly as frugal.

I would still do BWV but I would have split my 250 points into 2 contracts of 150 and 100.

SSR.

Yes, the 12 years is nice - but SSR is also the best general fit for our family, and it is the only resort that, if we ended up only being able to stay in one resort for every trip, we could all agree on and be happy with.

NO question. We'd still have the same # of points (and use year) at BWV. We'll probably do a small add on at VAKL, but BWV would still be our 'home'.

We purchased 300 BCV points when Disney was selling it and just purchased at 150 pt VB contract.

If purchasing now I would purchase a 200pt contract at BWV or BCV. I might choose BWV for the BW view and std. pts. but haven't stayed there yet to know for sure. I would still have my 150 pt VB contract and then I would perhaps have room for a small, 75-100pt, AKV contract.

We have young children and forsee travelling to WDW during popular (school vacation times) for the next 14 years! So we need to buy where we want to stay.

Into two different resorts, then? We are considering adding points and thinking about getting the next block of points at a different resort. Or if two contracts at the same resort what is the advantage? We are new to this!

I bought in to BWV, and if I had the choice to rebuy today, I'd still purchase BWV. Only, with more points. :)

I would still buy into WLV, I wished I would have bought more points up front instead of adding on a year later.

Diane, I'm thinking you will be buying another contract. :goodvibes Matt

I would have split my SSR contract in half, it is 300 pts.
I bought a 100 pt add on which I have sold. I now have 180 pts at BCV (3 contracts), and a 300 pt master at SSR.
I like the mix I have now, but I would have done it differently from the beginning. My advise is not to buy any contract larger than 150, and buy pts (some at least) where you want to stay. You don't need IMO to buy ALL your points where you want to stay if you will be using pts for other ventures such as DCL or World Passport, etc.

The real issue is priority. I think for the most part it is good to own at more than one resort. However, the drawback is that you can not use all your points combined at the 11 to 8 month window. You would need to borrow or do something creative like have points transferred in to make a large ressie at one resort 11 months in advance. You can only combine your pts at 7 months. You also want to stay with the same Use Year when adding on.
