If you could do it again would you?

We have been extremely happy that we brought in so many years ago so we have no regrets but would I today buy in..... I highly doubt it.

Unfortunately we have just been seriously unhappy with the downhill slide we have seen at Disney (overall) the last 16 months.

Lousy/mediocre food.
cutbacks in entertainment
cutbacks in upkeep of facilities.

The first 5-7 years, you could not shut me up about our wdw vacations, now I find them very average.
The first 8 years of ownership I probably referred 7 couples who purchased, no way would I recommend dvc to any one now.

We still have great family vacations at the world and I absolutely love WLV's but for the first time in almost 10 years we will not be vacationing at WDW and have not considering any trips in the near future (next year and 1/2) Now maybe some of that is due to burn out but I don't think so. We're heading to Paris this year and will check out DLP for a few days

So if I had to rebuy, I probably would not especially with all the great deals being offered and no way at the prices Disney wants.

We would not or would only buy a small contract. I still love DVC and still try to stay there every year for a week or more. But I have other interests and other options that are often better and cheaper even for DVC. For example, we're doing a family/friends type trip next Sept. I have 8 units booked at BCV & BWV with five 1 BR units and three 2 BR units for this Sept. Total cost somewhere in the $4K range for all including underlying timeshares costs, exchange fees and $95 resort services fee per unit. A single 2 BR unit would have been almost that in terms of the value of the points if reserved directly and of course a direct cash reservation would have been about that much for one unit.

But DVC is still a great option for those who's primary travel interest is, and likely will remain, on property at WDW or possibly DL. Even then DVC isn't a good choice for everyone such as mostly long weekends, those that can't afford it and those that are just as happy in value options. It is also of questionable value for premier times like Easter and Xmas itself.

We have not regretted our decision to purchase resale at VB. DVC is a great program if you stay at DVC resorts. I wouldn't recommend it if you mostly stay at non-DVC resorts however. :flower3:
