If you could choose one table service meal what would it be? (New to DLR)

Hi all

The title says it all! My family is grateful for all the recommendations on a previous thread I posted, and we cannot wait to try all the quick service options! (Well not all but they all look amazing!)

However, minus our last night which we will find somewhere in DLR, if there was one table service meal you would do for first timers (well not for my mom but she hasn’t been since it was still just DL and DLH) at DLR? The only allergies we have food wise are red wine (my poor mom is the one allergic to that).

Thanks,

BH5

This would be our order of preference:

Napa Rose
Carthay Circle
Blue Bayou
Cafe Orleans
Lamplight Lounge
Carthay Circle Lounge for drinks/snacks
Mendocino Terrace for drinks/snacks

There are also some great restaurants in DTD worth a try. Our favorite is Ralph Brennans followed by Naples (sadly SH 55 is no more).

If I could only eat at one restaurant that is inside either park, I would choose Lamplight Lounge. A close second would be Carthay Circle. A distant third would be Cafe Orleans.

Naples
Catal
Jazz Kitchen

Those are my recommendations in order. Not one TS in either park is really worthy of your money, IMO. If you MUST eat inside a park, Carthay Circle or Lamplight Lounge.

Completely agree here. Lamplight is our favorite park restaurant, so much so that last time we visited, we went for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner on three separate days. :)

Carthay is also very good.

Blue Bayou is the table service experience we always do when we go to DLR. We really enjoy the peacefulness of sitting in the dim light near the water with the banjo playing, and the food is pretty good too (if overpriced due to the ambiance). Even my 6-year-old really liked both the atmosphere and the jambalaya (and the glow cube in his lemonade).

Based on my most recent visits:

1) Lamplight Lounge
2) Napa Rose (outside the park at Grand Californian)
3) Carthay Circle (pricey)

Places we've experienced a loss of quality service/food:
1) Cafe Orleans (food was served cold, and had little flavor)
2) Blue Bayou (food and service dropped substantially on our visit)
3) Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (had hair in our food - lots of it...looked like someone's hair got cut....1/2" pieces)

Good Surprise outside the park:
1) Catal - the food was very good, and plentiful (they didn't skimp), and the service was good as well

Bad surprise outside the park:
1) Taqueria at Tortilla Joe's - food was substandard and the service was slow

We were just there first week of May (for point of reference), The above are based on our experience. Individual experiences may vary. :confused3

Our most recent visit was 2019, but I would say:

  1. BB - ambiance is great and why you go; worth doing at least once for the experience.
  2. WCT - this place gets mixed reviews from people, but it has consistently been a family favorite, and they would revolt if I didn't book it at least once during our trip.
  3. Napa Rose - my family has never done this, but it gets such consistent high marks it should be under consideration for anyone who visits.

I also am very partial to character meals, but those are buffets and not true table service, other than the princess brunch which we've not done since it moved to Napa Rose. My family does a lot more quick service than TS while at DLR though!

Blue Bayou
Carthay Circle
Lamplight Lounge

It is so subjective. I think restaurants can change on the daily depending on who is in the kitchen, and your server.

Our last visit in November, out of Napa Rose, Carthay Circle, and Blue Bayou the stand alone winner was Blue Bayou. I KNOW!! Couldn't believe it myself. Napa took the bottom spot. Entrees were horrific (the pork chop was 50% fat and the other two were just bland - fish and pasta). Carthay, normally my #1, took a big hit with price hikes and cheap cuts of meat. Blue Bayou gave us 3 delicious entrees. Stunned. Stunned I tell you!!

Of course, I would book Carthay Circle again as one bad meal out of several good ones could just be an off night.

I am hesitant on Napa Rose. The time before was not spectacular either. :confused3

WCT - this place gets mixed reviews from people, but it has consistently been a family favorite, and they would revolt if I didn't book it at least once during our trip.

Sometimes I feel like we are the cheese that stands alone on WCT! We've always had great experiences there. My mom doesn't even like Italian food, but she likes going there for the ribeye (it's very flavorful!).
