If you booked on SWA . . .

I was about to post the same thing! I check rates daily - well, today rates for PVD->MCO have dropped to 49$ one way (! I could not believe it) I had previous booking with them and they just adjusted the price and gave me SW credit of 180$!

If you call and request it after you complete your travel, they will credit it back to your credit card

SAWYERMAW1,
Is this true? Even though it explicitly says on the webpage that these Promotional fares are non-refundable?
It would be awesome if it's true!

ushkina, what dates where $49 one way. Thats great. I checked 2 days ago and fares for August were outrageous then today I looked and they had the $79 one way for my dates.

shelleyz, this rate is for mid May: 14 May- 21 May 2004. I booked when the rates were 79$ one way, and kept checking everyday hoping they will drop more :) Sure they did!!
Good luck!

For Ushkina - I called and had my tickets changed to the lower fare over the telephone instead of going to their web site as I had 7 tickets to change. I hate to cancel and rebook on line with so many tickets. After the agent changed me over to the lower fare. she said if I call upon completion of my travel, they will credit it back to my credit card. I charged the tickets to my AmEX and since that has to be paid in full each month, I will be paying the higher fare and then getting a refund the next month. I'm thinking about calling now to see if I have to wait until I complete the travel.

Were your fares Promotional? The travel agent I spoke to today told me that I can not get a credit card refund, but I can use this credit for future trips with SW. Maybe he was wrong? Please let me know what you find out when you call them! Thanks!!

I saved $60 per ticket for 5 tickets I have a $300 credit.. perfect being we are going back to WDW for Christmas. Yeah!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yes, my fares were Promotional. My agent volunteered the refund information but I've had this happen with SWA several times and the refund has always been credited back to my credit card. You just have to call with your confirmation number and make the request after you complete your travel. That's one reason why I like to stick with SW when I fly. They are people freindly, unlike some of the others.

Hi,

I called today and got my total price lowered by $120.00 but I too was told that I would get a credit for future travel with SWA but I would not get a refund. Do you (SAWYERMAW1) get a refund because you booked using AMEX? I would love to have the money in my pocket. The first agent told me that the money would be refunded to my credit card and the next agent told me that it would be a credit:confused: I'm not complaining- just confused. Any ideas? TIA

SAWYERMAW1, that's great! Thanks for telling me! I will call them as soon as we get back from our trip :)

But I'm happy about it as I'm going in October with my mom and will book SW as soon as the dates open. How great it is to have it prepaid.

I'm thrilled, saved $264!

Love Southwest!

I doubt he got a refund because he was using AMEX, I think he got lucky and found an agent that did this. They are sometimes not on the same page, as you found out.

Thanks OP! I too just saved $50 per ticket for my family of 5!! Well, not really.... They wouldn't refund the money to my credit card (bummer!) They would only issue it as southwest credit. So that means we'll just have to take another trip before 1/2005!!
I guess I didn't really "save" any money then, did I??? :) :)

You're all lucky. I've been checking SWA a number of times every day, and our rates are going up, up, up. We purchased one way tickets to MCO when they were reasonable. Return rates were high so I didn't purchse them. I'm now getting concerned about finding reasonable return tickets (for July). Last week, Delta had round trip from my city for $94 including tax, but since I was an idiot and purchased the one way nonrefundable tickets, we're stuck with SWA. If I find lower rates that are for round trip, I can get a credit for my current tickets and apply it to the new rate. Glad you all found good deals--you give me hope that I'll find something good before long. I'll keep looking!

Im very glad to hear that all of you got great deals !!:bounce:

I just live in the wrong state...NJ!

NY had good deals!

ACY, Phila, Nwrk....nada! y:(

So........I did use my ff'ers for May...though not happy about it!

senecabeach.....the fares from Philadelphia to Orlando are $49 one way from April 19th through June 17th. Put those Rapid Reward tickets in your pocket!

Hey guys thanks so much for the posting....I saved $288!!

I called SWA and the agent walked me through the process of changing my ressie online. I didn't have to cancel and rebook so I thought I would post so that if anyone else wants to get the lower fares they could do it without calling SWA.

Here's how to do it:
SWA.com
then click on travel center (at the top)
about midpage left side there is a link for change air
click on that and it will lead you to a screen where you put your reservation # in and the name used to purchase the air. from there you just follow through with the date / time of your flight.
the last screen shows the original price / new price and the amout of credit you will receive. on the last screen you have the option of having the security fee refunded or added to the fare credit.

I hope this is not too confusing....it was so easy so much simplier than cancelling and rebooking. And you don't take the chance of cancelling and not being able to find a flight.
