If you booked on SWA . . .

Sorry everyone who thinks that they have to issue a credit back to your credit card but DMRick is correct. I was unable to get the money back because it is a nonrefundable ticket they are not even obligated to lower your fare. This just gives me a good excuse to make another trip to Disney this year.

I called today too, and since it was simply a "Fare Sale Downgrade" and not a change in the actual flight, I was told that I could mail a copy of my receipt to Southwest's Refund Dept and they would credit my credit card the difference.

The address is:

Southwest Airlines
Refund Department
P.O. Box 36649
Dallas, TX 75235-1649

AuroraluvsPhillip, when I called SW yesterday the flights that I reserved previously were shown to have no seats for these new promotional rates. But they reduced the price anyway, because my seats were already reserved. Does it make sense? So maybe you agent is not correct?

kandmwedding,
Thanks for the info. One question: What receipt do I need to mail to them: the one I 'll get at the check in or the confirmation email they sent me yesterday? Thanks!

Well I just picked up my tickets from our travel agent and it turns out that DH booked a Southwest Vacation package. If my airfare is part of a package, should I bother trying to get a refund? Did any of you book a package or did you do your flight separately?

Next time we do WDW I am going to be so much more knowledgable thanks to these boards. Plus I'll plan it way ahead to get better rates..;)

I saved $240 on my fare. The reservationist at South West told me that my ticket was a promotional fare and nonrefundable but since the price went down and I did not change my flights, the difference in the fare was fully refundable. He told me I could have my choice of a South West Air Credit or a refund to my credit card. I went with the credit card refund.

:Pinkbounc THANK YOU!! :Pinkbounc THANK YOU!! :Pinkbounc THANK YOU!! :Pinkbounc

I originally bought our tickets online, but I was too chicken to try to change them online. I was afraid I would make our reservations disappear :earseek: , so I called. I saved $64 per person!! The lady who helped me was very nice. She told me the $192 would be refunded after our travel. She did not say anything about calling again or mailing anything. She never even mentioned a credit with Southwest. I assume that means the amount will automatically be taken off my credit card after we get back. (Gee--"assume" just made me a little nervous :( )

I LOVE THE DISboards!!!!!! ::yes:: Three weeks to go & I'm still finding ways to save money!

But that's o.k. - better than nothing. I saved $180 for the 3 of us. My mom goes to FL to visit my aunt sometimes so if we can't use it I will give it to her and she can take an extra trip!!

I will probably try after we travel to see if I can do the credit card refund thing.

it's got to be luck of the draw because I booked internet like above posters.

I just got $116 difference on my trip. I called my rapids rewards 800 number. I was tod the same thing- because it was a fare reduction and not a change in itinerary(flights, dates and times all stayed the same). After the travel I should send both confirmations to the refund department (address given earlier in thread) to get my card refunded.
I originally booked an internet-only fare. And this new sale is an internet only fare. Maybe that's the difference that some are only allowed SWA credit versus credit card refund. The fare probably has to be of the exact same type. Soetimes their fare sales are promotional and sometimes they are internet only. Both the promotional and internet only fares are listed in the same column right now with a price range (for mine it was 39-74).

Just a thought as to why there seems to be discrepancies.

I called them as well and they said a refund will be credited to my credit card: please see the thread: "SWA Refund info: for those whose rates dropped" in Transportation forum.

I think it's like calling Disney..depends on which cm you get. The thing is, they are non refundable, so anything they give us is a gift..if credit card or crdit..they don't have too, and they do, just because they are a great company.

Well, actually when I called their Customer relations I did not ask for a refund intially, I just asked them to clarify the situation because different agents seemed to give different answers.
The lady said that in my case I am eligible for a credit card refund, so I think I got a refund because the rules are such, not because the company decided to make me happy and go against the rules (at least it is how I understood it).
I totally agree that they are a great company!

Boooo Hoooooo........:(

SWA doesnt fly out of PHL...to MCO... yet!

Probably will after my May trip.......Grrrrrrrr:mad:

senecabeach,

Service starts May 9th...when are you going in May?

I tried following the directions to change my reservation online, but it wouldn't allow it because I wasn't actually "changing" anything. I was keeping the same flight, it's just the price change. I didn't want to mess up anything so I just called and they gave me the credit and I got the email as soon as I hung up the phone! That was quick.

hi

let me start by saying I LOVE THIS BOARD!! :teeth:

i checked my flights and they went down by $400!!!!!! i am paying half of what i originally was paying

when i called SWA to tell them about the price change they told me as long as i don't make any changes to my flight between now and when i fly back that i will get a refund to my credit card- i have to call SWA after i return and request a credit card refund- and the attendent noted this on my itinerary!!

YAHOO:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I saved $150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been SOO worried about money and I would have totally missed this. To say you are the DIS woman is a complete understatement! It must really do your heart good to have helped so many people!

BTW as far as the ongoing question, I got it credited to my card through the travel agent. I could have gotten more back if Disney had not raised it's rates, but oh well, I got at least that! Long story on another thread, I had to do a pcakage becasue it was part of a trip my DH won from work so our share out of pocket for rooms, flight and Disney tickets was only 950 now!

Thank you again!
