Each stateroom is it's own reservation. Therefore, has it's own number.

Separate reservations but you can add them to each other so all parties can see each other and you can book things for both reservations at the same time.

Yes, linking reservations can enable you to book things for either room's occupants, as long as the both have the same Castaway Club status.

If one room is Gold and the other is new cruisers, the booking window for activities opens later for the room with new cruisers.

A little off topic. But if you are on Royal Caribbean and you have 5 people in ONE ROOM you get two reservations. Glad Disney doesn’t do that!
