If you book on Hotwire do you pay a resort fee?

We are currently booked to stay at HOJO with the Entertainment rate, but DH wants to save a few bucks by booking on Hotwire, instead.:scared1: If I factor in the parking at DL, the Hotwire hotel still comes in a bit less expensive (and it does come with breakfast), but I'm wondering if the Hotwire hotels charge a resort fee on top of what you see? If so, then HOJO would be the same price, and a nicer hotel, I think! Guess I'm just looking for justification to pay a bit more (initially) at HOJO rather than go with an unknown at Hotwire. For DH, it's all about the bottom line, money-wise.

If the hotel normally charges everyone a "resort" and/or parking fee you will need to pay that.

I would be curious what the $ difference would actually be if you booked thru Hotwire vs the Ent rate at Hojo.

Hotwire will typically disclose if the hotel you select charges a resort fee.

HOJO with the entertainment rate came to $542.80. Hotwire with tax came to $315.36, but it didn't say anything about free parking or a resort fee. It does, however, come with a free continental breakfast. If I add on another 15% for a resort fee and put in $14 a day for parking at Disney, Hotwire comes to $514.66, but I don't know how much to guess for parking at the hotel. $12 a day? Then it comes to $610 for Hotwire. I'd really like to stay at HOJO, but I know DH is going to say it looks like Hotwire is going to be cheaper...until we find out there's some hidden parking charge or resort fee or something. And all I'll be able to say is, "I told you so!"

There are some sites that help you "guess" what hotel you will be getting with hotwire. Check out www.betterbidding.com, or you could even post the star rating, amenities, trip advisor rating, etc. here and see if there are any educated guesses.

If you can figure out (although the guesses are never 100% guaranteed) which hotwire hotel it will be, you can check in advance about the parking fees or the resort fees and decided which is a better deal.

Thanks. I called Hotwire to see if there was some way to find out about these fees ahead of time, and there isn't, but she said Expedia is their sister site and to try that. So I put in the same parameters, and made sure I only pulled up hotels with free parking, and I'm pretty sure (based on price, location, star rating and amenities matching Hotwire) that we are looking at the Good Nite Inn in Buena Park. Not HOJO by any means, but Trip Advisor had decent reviews for the most part. I have a feeling that is where we are going to end up. I'm totally bummed about not staying at HOJO, though!

betterbidding is indeed very helpful. I would suggest looking there in addition to the expedia check you did.

You could also look at hotels.com. I really like them, especially b/c there's no blind bidding.

Don't forget to check out hydroguy's "essay" about the hidden time costs of driving to DL vs walking...

Not very close and with little people it could become a problem going and coming.

I know! By the time we get out to the car, load everyone up, get out of the parking lot and drive back to the hotel, we could have already walked back to HOJO and put the kids to bed. :headache: I wish I could convince him to pony up the extra few bucks for the convenience, but he is very hard to part from his wallet.
