If you are doing the 2008 WDW Half, Full Or Goofy, sign in here...

Hi Jackie :)

I'm aware of January 12 considering my alarm along with other team mates will be set for 2:30 am January 12th so we can board the buses in time to make it to where we will go for cheering :)

I'll be also setting my alarm for January 11th as I'm doing the 5K and the 13th as I'm doing the Full. I know too that there will be 1/2 marathoners setting their alarms on January 13th like I did in 2007 to cheer on the Full marathon. That's what the team is about. Getting out there to scream and push our friends on. :)

Hope your training is going well. I'm looking forward to January 2009 as I keep saying I'm sliding back into my favorite race distance then ;) You GOTTA love the Disney 1/2. The course rocks :)

See ya on the course! I'm just trying to decide where to start. The TTC, the Contemporary but most likely either the Grand Floridian or Polynesian as for me in 2007 reaching those areas were hard for me. But I'm sure there will be Team mates at the TTC as well as on Main Street :)

I finally have a place to stay...I'llbe at POR

and, I will be looking for someone staying there that might be willing to guide me, as it's my first time, if anyone is willing????

Angie/Pungodingy - If there's not anyone at POR, there are a bunch of us at POFQ. You can come hang out with us!

Jackie

Add me too, at POFQ of course! :cool1:

Stayed there last year and it was great.

Angie, maybe consider switching over to FQ?!?!

Hi! I'm number 122 on that list and for the last two things (the ones marked TBD) I'm walking, and staying at Pop Century.

Can you update me?

I am now doing the GOOFY!! and we are staying at BWV now. My DH, Mike, is still doing the half. I will be W/R the goofy. Thanks!
I am number 93 on the list :)

Becky

Glad you took the plunge. You may not on day 2:rolleyes:

Thanks Robert! So far you are the only one who has been positive about it. Everyone else I have told (my DH, my sister, my dad) all think I am crazy!! I will definately be asking everyone on these boards for lots of advice between now and January!

Yes Becky, you have to be (and all the rest of us) crazy to do the Goofy. When get up at 2:30 am 2 days in a row while on vacation :scared1:

BTW, pop over to my forum as there are a lot of Goofy veterans(and newbies). Lot of talk about preparing and the races already going on!

You can show everyone when you come back with 3 shiny new medals:cool1:

Oh yeah, I forgot about your forum! On my way over there....

Btw, which medal do you wear in the parks after completing the goofy? Do you rotate each day?:rotfl: Or do you wear all 3 at once :lmao:

Becky

Just wear the Goofy. Everyone who wanders by knows what it means. The new medal will be really cool. The only time I wear 2 medals is after I finish the Marathon and get both the Mickey & Goofy. I wear them as we hobble back to BWV as we walk through EPCOT. We get tired so we stop by the R&C for some liquid carbs:drinking1

I just ok'd you!

Everyone else I have told all think I am crazy!

Hello Becky, and :welcome:

Upon informing my family of my decision to enter the Goofy Challenge, I received the same reaction you did. Of course, they are all correct: we are crazy!

Our family and friends just don't understand (Goofy Medal!) that we entered this event (Goofy Medal!) to test our physical and mental boundaries (Goofy Medal!) and grow as a person and athlete (Goofy Medal!) By the way, do they present you with any sort of token upon finishing the Goofy Challenge? :rolleyes1

Best of luck with the training. This site (and Robert's) are the places to be while you train for Goofy.

All Goofy runners get a wrist band at packet pickup. You wear this until you finish. You get your Donald medal and move over to the Goofy Tent. They cut of this wrist band and give you another. After you finish the full, you get your Mickey medal and walk over to the Goofy Tent again. They cut off your wrist band and give you a Goofy medal.

Hope this helps!

Hey Everyone,

I have a quick question....am I the only one who hasnt started training for the full (or the half) yet? I'm in the Air Force and my travel schedule is crazy, plus I'm a single mom taking care of kids, a house and my career. (juggling the kids school, soccer, girl scouts for my daughter) as well as school for my son. Plus I'm taking college classes online myself as well my military education....buy no stretch of the imagination am I complaining becasue I have and lead an awesome life. But golly the marathon is fast approaching and I'm trying to get at least twelve weeks of training in... :)

Kimickey- well, I've been working on my "base" this summer. I just started my real training this week. Monday was a rest/cross day (I chose rest), Tuesday 3 miles, Wed 5, Thurs 3, today I'm resting again! So I've done 11 miles- you're not that far behind! Grab a calendar and a schedule and go for it- we'll all get through it together.

I think those of us who are Goofy may need some sort of buddy system the morning of the full-- I might need someone to yell at me on the phone at 2:30 a.m. since my family will probably encourage me to go back to sleep and leave them alone.;) Now that I think about it, the WISH team cheering the half and running the full may need some calls too!

Jen in GA

Becky- way to go Goofy, girl! You add Goofy to your Minnie and DL and you've got a sweet medal collection! What are you going to do with them?

Steve - Thanks! I guess we are all crazy! I am just glad there are others like me ;)

Jen - How do you plan to attack Goofy? What do you think your pace will be? I am thinking probably a 3 hour half and then just try to get through the full. I am doing the half with my sister so I will go with her pace.

Becky
