which is all new to us, where should we book for the night before and parking, this is all new to us, having only flown from Gatwick, any advice appreciated....

Hey Jules

We alway fly from Manchester Airport, and we tend to stay at the Travelodge, which is 5 or 10 minutes away from the Airport, and we usually get the cheap 26.00 rooms http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hotel/hotel/hotel_id/295/ManchesterAirport

We also usually arrange the Meet & Greet service with QPark (where they meet you outside the terminal and take your car away, then when you land, you ring them and they'll meet you with your car). As we're AA members, we usually book this service through them as we get a discount

We have stayed at the Travelodge, for the price you can't go wrong, we paid £15 last year.

Bewleys always gets good reports.
:)

If you're wanting a hotel IN the airport, then the Radisson SAS is inside Terminal 2! It's quite a pricey hotel though, we've paid £115 for one night! We think it's worth it though, we've paid a fortune for the holiday, so why not splash out on the hotel the night before we fly! :thumbsup2

As for parking...I'm not too sure, sorry! I do know that there was a thread on this board about Manchester Airport parking not so long ago. If you search you may find it :)

Are you planning another trip then my little welsh dragon?

Would recommend the Radisson as it is connected to the terminals by a skywalk and is a brilliant way to start the holiday. It is a bit pricey but we booked a hotel/parking package via Saga as it is normally 5% less then others like holiday extra. Car parking is off site but transfers were only about 10 minutes.

Bewleys also gets good reports from fellow travelers

If you can't get in the closer travelodges, don't use the Manchester Sportcity travelodge. It's an absolute tip! The M62 Birch services ones are excellent and about 20mins away from the airport pre-rush hour traffic.

We have stayed at the Radisson SAS 3 times now and it has become a regular special start to the holiday. Ask for a runway view and you have something to watch all evening.

We booked online direct and just left the car there, they take it away and bring it back to be waiting for you when you arrive back.

Have you too got the post disney blues already:goodvibes

Another vote for the travelodge :thumbsup2 or you could make a small stopover in hinckley

It's just a thought Jules, but you could do what we are doing.

Our flight with Virgin is at 1.30 p.m. so we are flying first flight out of Aberdeen at 8.15 a.m. and arriving Manchester at 9.15 a.m. It gives us plenty of time in Manchester before our flight to MCO and we don't have the hassle of booking hotels for the night before, and also the car parking.

It's worth a thought, as it does work out a good bit cheaper (for us anyway).

I would stay at Bewleys - great hotel for the price & bar food was reasonable too. Excellent shuttle service too.

If you can get the Travelodge for £26 I would go with that but if by some quirk of fate we have to fly out of Man this year I will drive overnight. In the past we've arrived about 21:00 by the time you eat & chill it's midnight, then up at 1/2 past early to get there for check-in opening- you're lucky if you spent 4 hrs in the bed that you've paid for!
SD:thumbsup2

Well I'm another vote for the travellodge but I understand where shooby doo is coming from, we arrived at 20:30 and didn't get to bed till 1:30 (granted that was mainly self inflicted thanks to the onsite bar but the next morning was not a pretty site. :thumbsup2

We used a parking company called Armstrong secure I think, was one of the cheapest but was a secure location with insurance cover and they drive you to the airport and collect you when you land. Was about a 15 minute drive to the carpark and a 20 min drive to the airport from there so bear that in mind if you do use them

thanks for all the advice, I will check your ideas out, SD I get your point but we normally get to where we are staying by about 4.30 so find it worthwhile, we like to relax and get into holiday mode. Will I put my tent on your garden Nat xxx
Deb and Matt, Karen and Jill you are on the ball, we have the Disney blues and are planning the next one, we loved New Year so much the plan is to return for next year, nothing set in stone, but I will update you, we were both very frustrated by the time we got there last year, I am sure that Karen will agree, well late by the time we got into our room, a lot of this was down to the chaos at MCO, but we figure as we have to travel to Gatwick we may as well travel to Manchester where the flight leaves that little bit earlier, fingers crossed we will then be in our room before its dark. Thanks again for the advice....

Thanks Sue, this is something that we could look into, maybe fly from Cardiff, that would also cut out the vile drive home, we would be home from Cardiff airport in 30 minutes, thanks again for this idea.

We thought the same as Sue about flying from Edinburgh to Manchester to avoid the tedious drive home but when I checked it out we were restricted on the amount of baggage you could take (and bring back more!). For example BMIbaby say you can take 5 pieces with a combined weight of 20kg but you can take extra at approx £6 per kilo.

The flights worked out at about £120 and with the extra for the baggage it would not work out cheaper then the £150 for the Radisson and 15 days parking.

I think it just depends on what is easiest at the time.
