Interesting. In every hotel we have been in, we've always tipped whoever drops off the stuff. They've always been able to accept it. I guess I may never have done it at WDW as typically we're not in the room when they drop off whatever we've requested (we don't request much).
I'm cheap - I carry my own luggage, park my own car, etc etc because a penny saved is a penny earned. Usually I just suck it up and tip since it is accepted practice (as you can see, I still have a hard time with the tipping culture). Whenever possible though, I happily run down and get whatever I want. That said, things like blankets you MUST request and therefore, must tip (unless we are out of the room!). I feel guilty about my dislike for tipping. But frankly, we are frugal folks and I'd sooner save myself the $1-$2 and get it myself than spend the extra $$ on something that is "free" for service that is of no value for me. Ugh - why can't we just pay these service folks a fair wage and call it quits? *rant over*
Back to topic - the Mouse does a great job at keeping his house clean so don't worry too much about it. And if for whatever reason, your room doesn't meet your expectations, just let them know

I stay in hotels all over frequently and rarely get a dirty room. Then again, I'm not the type to check under the bed for dust bunnies

One of my dear friends just brings wipes and makes sure she wipes the whole room down before the rest of the family are allowed to touch anything.
