If we ask for extra blanket on the first night we are there...

We'll need extra blanket while we are at Pop for a week.

If we ask for extra blanket on the first night we are there, would the mousekeeper keep it for the rest of the time we are there or will she take it away when she cleans the room next day?

and also, if we ask something from the housekeeping, how much do we tip for the person who bring the 'thing(s)" we need?

thank you

I'd suggest that you put the extra blanket up on the shelf in the 'closet'. I don't think they'll touch it there.

I'd offer $2 to any housekeeping delivery person. Don't be surprised if they turn it down.

We asked for a blanket and then kept it on the bed, it was not removed before we left.

They most likely leave it but I think Winterman has the safest idea.

Usually it will be one of the runners who bring it up. they cant accept tips unless you absolutely insist. If they do accept it they're supposed to bring it back and add it to the pot or give it to one of the bellmen who can accept tips

Thank you so much. We leave in 3 days and really getting nervous.....hope we end up with good mousekeeper and clean room.

Interesting. In every hotel we have been in, we've always tipped whoever drops off the stuff. They've always been able to accept it. I guess I may never have done it at WDW as typically we're not in the room when they drop off whatever we've requested (we don't request much).

I'm cheap - I carry my own luggage, park my own car, etc etc because a penny saved is a penny earned. Usually I just suck it up and tip since it is accepted practice (as you can see, I still have a hard time with the tipping culture). Whenever possible though, I happily run down and get whatever I want. That said, things like blankets you MUST request and therefore, must tip (unless we are out of the room!). I feel guilty about my dislike for tipping. But frankly, we are frugal folks and I'd sooner save myself the $1-$2 and get it myself than spend the extra $$ on something that is "free" for service that is of no value for me. Ugh - why can't we just pay these service folks a fair wage and call it quits? *rant over*

Back to topic - the Mouse does a great job at keeping his house clean so don't worry too much about it. And if for whatever reason, your room doesn't meet your expectations, just let them know :) I stay in hotels all over frequently and rarely get a dirty room. Then again, I'm not the type to check under the bed for dust bunnies :) One of my dear friends just brings wipes and makes sure she wipes the whole room down before the rest of the family are allowed to touch anything.

I never ever had a CM that brought extra stuff reject tips. Runners are allowed to get tips I never heard otherwise and so is housekeeping.

OP why not leave the mouse keeping tip on the side of a note that asks to please leave the extra blanket. That is what I have done in the past when I need to ask something from the housekeeper. We tip nightly and always leave by the notepad with a note that's says thank you so they know it is for them.

My roommate use to do this. Wasn't supposed to take tips. He has worked all over the resorts and some positions he could and some he couldn't. Just because they take them doesn't mean they can keep them. Sometimes they are given to other people and sometimes they go into a pot. I do understand the my first post said "cant accept". However, I also said "Some CMs can and some CMs cant. Never hurts to offer". I apologize for the confusion

Yes it was confusing.
I travel extensively for work, both domestically and internationally. I always tip the person who would deliver a special request - including Disney. We once had a broken iron and I called for a new one. It was delivered in a very timely manner and the CM gladly accepted the tip without any convincing. The "can't accept" was never an issue.
This has been my personal experience at Disney hotels.

Again, I apologized for the confusion. No need to dwell. You're welcome to inquire about who can and cannot accept tips. Just because they take them, doesn't mean they're allowed to. I grew us in an Italian family in New York City. We tip EVERYONE.

Servers, Bellmen and valet are the only ones who are supposed to accept tips. Depends on who brings the item to your room. Just because you think they are just a runner doesn't mean they are. Some will disagree with this statement but I'm sitting next to someone who was a CP in bell services, full time bellman, and who is currently a full time front desk CM.

Officially Disney housekeeping is not a position for which they expect tips. So when they accept the job, they are deciding that it's a fair wage. They shouldn't expect tips.

I tip there. I do it knowing they shouldn't expect it. Makes no difference to anyone outside my brain, but still. :)

I always ask for an extra blanket (thanks to my nephew who likes the temp set to Arctic Freeze) and housekeeping typically makes it onto the bed for the rest of the week.

Oh, and I tip them when they bring it by too.
