I'll even date myself here. The first computers that I worked with on my first job out of college had fixed head disk drives, core memory and you had to thumb in the boot program from the front panel in octal.

I had been working there at Boeing for a number of years and I guess I had just been thinking in octal for way too long. I remember driving along one day, I looked down and my odometer was at 37777. I found myself watching for it to turn over to 40000. I knew then that I needed help.
