What religion are you? Here (Church of England) most kids get baptised as babies, they can then do first communion from 8 onwards and full confirmation from about 13!

I'm LDS~ we baptise when they're 8.

Oh and she's just got a new ipod :rotfl2:

Slacker!!! Jess, we need an update!!!!:yay:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: After some advice we got another engineer in and guess what he can't find anything wrong with it and turned it back on :yay: it still needs to be replaced though but at least we won't stink :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Not stinking is a good thing. :rotfl2: Will it be cheaper now?

Come to England instead, I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind :rotfl2:

 My guess is that the kids wouldn't mind. I raised freaks. :upsidedow

Woooohooooo

I know!!!! :woohoo: How many days until your next trip?

Sorry but LDS?????

She's now playing with her DIS siggie :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Not stinking is a good thing. :rotfl2: Will it be cheaper now?
Nope no cheaper but at least we can save up for it :thumbsup2

Really? Wow you have raised freaks ;) J/K :rotfl2:

I know!!!! :woohoo: How many days until your next trip?
We're hoping to go to NYC to visit my sister at Easter!

Sorry but LDS?????

Mormon (LDS)

She's now playing with her DIS siggie :rotfl2:

She is? How cute!!! :cutie: Does she think we are more or less mad now that she's "talking" to us.

Nope no cheaper but at least we can save up for it :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Excellent! It's nice to be able to save for something vs throwing it on a credit card and perhaps not paying it off. That's why I just can't have a cc. My intentions are to pay it off at the end of the month but it never seemed to happen. Not having cc's for the past year has been the best thing we have ever done.

Really? Wow you have raised freaks ;) J/K :rotfl2:

::yes:: They just love to travel and truly don't care where. DH says that no one in this family will ever be as excited as I am for Disney. And that I am excited enough for all of us. :lmao:

We're hoping to go to NYC to visit my sister at Easter!

:cool1: That sounds fun. Have you been to NYC?

DH and I went to see Dark Knight last night and I didn't like it. I knew I wouldn't. The last 3 weeks at work we have had our share of deeply mentally ill folks and I am pretty schizophrenia'd out. :sad1: Not the movie I needed to see. The batman parts were good and if the bad guy wasn't so ill I would have liked it more. And Christian Bale looks like a young Scott Baio to me. :rotfl2: Not hot. Puppy dog cute ::yes:: but hot, no way.

Gabby leaves for DC tomorrow and I am an anxious mess. :hyper: I keep trying to reassure myself that at least DH will be in the area but still, a week with all that freedom? :scared: There are 12 children to one faculty/staff which is good and the people at the Hyatt told me that they have very tight security. The lady said to try to tell the kids to not attempt to have food delivered because no one except family (and even then they like notice) is allowed on their floor without authorization. She said every forum they turn down loads of food delivery folks. She also said to pack Gab some snacks because even though it's "lights out" at 10 pm, the kids are up until midnight giggling and eating. I can only imagine. She said they have to stock the hotel store to the hilt when these kids are there because they love their junk. Now I am trying to debate how much cash to give her. The forum people said that they don't have tons of time to shop but do like a snack or treat in between activites, lectures, and tours so to have about $10-$20 cash daily and to have the rest, get this, on a debit card! :scared1: I hadn't thought about this so now I am sending Gab with my debit card, PIN and all. :upsidedow I trust her not to empty the account but still, she's SO generous and I could see her buying treats for others kids who want one especially if they don't have money with them. Sweet, but wrong time and place.

The forum people said that some parents visit in the mornings to have breakfast with their "delegate" ;) and visit at night after their activities. DH said he'll visit her once maybe but doesn't want to hover and bug her. I told him that I think she'll be sad if everyone else has a parent there and she doesn't. I knew I should have been the parent to hang out in DC for the week. :p

She's going to have so much fun!!! And what a great experience!!

And I did my P&PP update on my TR!

 Hey folks, how's everbodies weekends going?

Jo, feeling your pain about the boiler...Donny had to fork out for a whole new exhause and back box for the car:scared:

Jenny, Gab is going to have a great time, what a fantastic opportunity.

Winkers, good luck with the baptism...hope you all have fun:goodvibes

Jo(Goofy) headin' over for a wee update now:thumbsup2

Hi Bev, Jenna, Tracey, Jordan and everyone else hope the weekend is fabby for you.

PS found out I didn't even get an interview for the TourGuideJakey job so I have applied for a few more jobs and am keeping my fingers crossed that I get somewhere with them

Kirsteen, maybe they thought it was like putting the mouse in charge of the cheese. ;)

 But really I am sorry you didn't get an interview. Who wants to work for big jobbies like that anyway?! :snooty:

Where are you applying?

:rotfl2: You're right they're just a bunch of big jobbies:lmao: I'm not too disappointed as apparently the person who got the job had worked in the same position in another distillary. Hey ho it would have been interesting but it would also have meant that I would have had to work weekends and public holidays which wouldn't have been the greatest.

I've applied for a couple of jobs with other charities and a few other admin/receptionist jobs. I'd prefer a job with a charity as I like to have a bit of a belief in what I'm working for and not just making money for a big corporation KWIM

BTW I started my Christmas shopping today :rotfl:

She is? How cute!!! :cutie: Does she think we are more or less mad now that she's "talking" to us.
She never thought you were all mad that's David :rotfl2:

We are so boring, we have a direct debit from our bank account that automatically pays off our cc's at the end of the month, we never buy what we can't afford!

:cool1: That sounds fun. Have you been to NYC?
No never, it's always somewhere I've wanted to go but thought it would be just me and David for a short break near Christmas :rotfl2:

Gabby leaves for DC tomorrow and I am an anxious mess. :hyper:
How far away is it? It's a bit strange that parents can visit isn't it?

I'm sorry, never mind

Noooooo :faint: :rotfl2:

I agree. DH just called and said to pack rain gear. Hanna/Ike are headed that way. :faint:
Don't know about Ike, but Hanna is already here. If she was flying in today, she might have had problems. The rain should be over by the time M & Gab arrive.:thumbsup2

Chris played soccer during Hanna today. All he wanted was a hot bath when we got home.

 Hey folks, how's everbodies weekends going?
Wet!:rotfl:

Hi Bev, Jenna, Tracey, Jordan and everyone else hope the weekend is fabby for you.
Hope yours is fabby too!:flower3:

I'm sorry! Good luck with the other prospects!

I started mine the day after Christmas last year!:snooty: ;) :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Seriously though, I do shop throughout the year when I find things on sale. That way I spread the money out and I'm not stressed over gifts last minute.

Holidays and weekends are okay if you are a single gal but as a mom, you are better off without the job run by jobbies. :goodvibes

I totally KWYM about believing in where and who you work for. I cannot imagine having a job I hated. I feel very blessed to have the job I have most of the time.

I started my holiday shopping about 3 weeks ago. I have to spread it out or it sneaks up on me.

She never thought you were all mad that's David :rotfl2:

I think all the hubbies think we are mad. I know mine does. He loves Jenna but think the DIS and the lot of us are wacky. :crazy2:

We are so boring, we have a direct debit from our bank account that automatically pays off our cc's at the end of the month, we never buy what we can't afford!

:snooty: Oh, you are one of thoooooooooooooose. ;) We are also one of those now but we haven't always been.

No never, it's always somewhere I've wanted to go but thought it would be just me and David for a short break near Christmas :rotfl2:

I have only been once with my good friend Debbye (my current sitter) in December, right after 9/11 and it's an amazing city with a vibrant feel. :thumbsup2 I would love to take DH and the kids someday.

How far away is it? It's a bit strange that parents can visit isn't it?

It's almost 3,000 miles on the other side of the country. I think DH and my FIL are going to check in with her Wed morning for breakfast.

:lmao: I actually wanted to start a couple of weeks ago and Big D told me I was sick in the head......whaaaaaat:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

:cool1: Tell Big D that all the cool DISers are shopping already. I am sure he won't wet himself over that statement.

Don't know about Ike, but Hanna is already here. If she was flying in today, she might have had problems. The rain should be over by the time M & Gab arrive.:thumbsup2

:worship: I looked on weather.com and it's calling for showers on Tuesday but still warm. DH told me to get her rain gear. :confused3 WTHell is rain gear? I packed her an umbrella and a cute pink poncho but let's be really, what 5th-8th grader is going to use either?

Chris played soccer during Hanna today. All he wanted was a hot bath when we got home.

Is he loving his lessons? And speaking of soccer:

Gab blocked all 4 goals that came near the net today!!!!! :cool2:

Yeah, you begin the day after but when do you stop? :rolleyes1  You know I adore you!!!!

So Gab is all packed. I have changed my mind on allowing her to take my debit card. I would just feel so uneasy. So for now, she'll get $50 cash and we have a Visa money card with $45 on it. DH can replenish on Wed morning if she needs more. If. :rotfl2: Like duh, she's gonna rip through that money the first 2 days. I also packed her 2 boxes of granola bars in case she's famished and there is no food in sight. Also packed for the tween enjoyment, 2 bags of candy. :scared: I am sure the Hyatt folks will thank me later. ;) Also some Starburst and Goldfish crackers. I also went and got her new pajamas and a wallet.

:flower3: I have been on the receiving end of your marathon shopping so have at it!!!! :lmao:

I bought your Christmas/Hanukkah(sp?) gift when we were at WDW in June. I thought about bringing it with us when we came out to Yellowstone.:rotfl2: But you probably would've opened it early, right?;)

I forgot to add that Michael and Gabby will be meeting Jenna et al in DC. I am SO jealous!!!! She's my friend dammit!!!

We can't wait!!:woohoo: But I will miss you, Chloe, & Josh!! It just won't be the same.........:sad1:

Jorge finally got my pictures done so I can start my Yellowstone trip report!!!:yay: :yay: Though he still hasn't done my Disney pics from June! Where are his priorities?!?

So here goes:
Tuesday August 12:
We were scheduled to leave about 3pm after Nate worked an abbreviated work day. Well, we all know how this story goes! Nate called about 5 on his way home from a meeting with a client. I had the car packed with our luggage and the camping gear that Nate had ready from the weekend before. But, he still needed to get his fishing gear and a few other odds & ends packed. So we discussed whether or not to leave much later than we had planned or just get up early the next day and drive straight thru. We decided to stick with the original plan and head to his parents to stay the night. I think it was around 8 by the time we pulled out of the driveway. With a 5 hr. drive, we got to his parents in Western PA after 1 am.:sad2: The plan was to leave at 8am the next morning from their house. Ha!

Wednesday August 13:
I was pretty excited so I did manage to wake up around 7. I think it was after 2 that we got to bed the night before. I had packed a small bag with the things we needed to stay overnight at the in-laws so no need to unpack the whole car!:thumbsup2 Of course, Nate was convinced he could've packed the car better if he had done the packing. So what did he do? Yep, re-packed the car. Finally, we pulled out about 10:30. Only 2 1/2 hrs. behind!
Here we are in our super-stuffed car! Emma got to ride in the back first. The boys each got a turn too.

jelly002.jpg

jelly003.jpg

On the road to Omaha, Nebraska! We took one wrong turn and ended up going into Chicago.
jelly004.jpg

Nate wasn't amused when I suggested that since we were there we should stop at the DVC Doorway to Dreams. It's at one of the malls.
So we drove. And drove. And drove. Not much to report on this day. Just miles of corn fields. There were storms at night with some really cool lightning strikes. It was beautiful to watch from a distance. We got to Omaha about 1:30 am. Ugh. We needed to be on the road at 8. Double ugh.

I bought your Christmas/Hanukkah(sp?) gift when we were at WDW in June. I thought about bringing it with us when we came out to Yellowstone.:rotfl2: But you probably would've opened it early, right?;)

Who me? :confused3 The most patient person you know. :rotfl2:

We can't wait!!:woohoo: But I will miss you, Chloe, & Josh!! It just won't be the same.........:sad1:

 We'll miss you guys too. I'd be even more upset if we just didn't see you a month ago. Gab's super excited to see you guys! :grouphug:

Now on to your trippie!!!!! :yay: :surfweb:

Thursday August 14:
We got up about 8am after another short night of sleep. But I was way excited because we'd be at Jenny's tonight!!!:cool1: I think she called me about a little after 9 as we were checking out of the hotel. She was impressed that we were getting out of there that early.:rotfl:

More driving past cornfields. And livestock. No pics of those.
We stopped at Gothenburg, Nebraska to visit the last remaining Pony Express station.
jelly005.jpg

More driving.
There was a really beautiful sunset over Wyoming.
jelly006.jpg

Finally we get to Jenny's after midnight!! Yay!!! I called as we were turning off the highway. Nate swore he remembered how to get there, but we turned into the wrong subdivision. After a few turns, we spotted these really crazy people in their pjs waiting for us in their driveway. Wish I had a pic of that!!
