That was fantastic!

The distances are indeed mind boogling. The Voyager 1 spacecraft only recently left our solar system having been launched in 1977. Speeding along at 62,000 mph it will take approximatley 10,000 years to reach the closest star to our solar system.

You would enjoy a visit to the Rose Center Hayden Planatarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The main aattraction uses the giant sphere as a base to show scale in the universe from an electron to the galaxies.
