If the Haunted Mansion gets an update, should Elizabeth Henshaw (movie character) be added? With the Jungle Cruise being redone to be more inclusive and Disney plus pulling Peter Pan and Dumbo, I think it would be great to show a Disney character from the ride folklore that is multiracial and originally from the movie franchise. Thoughts?

Well, I wouldn't call that movie a "franchise" - it wasn't all that well received (it's not as bad as it's made out to be though). I think if they ever get a NEW movie off the gorund, we might see something then. That said, I think the ghosts don't necessarily have race, so it's fine really.

That movie is largely forgotten, so I'd say no. I'd rather we get the Haunted Mansion movie that Guillermo del Toro has been wanting to make for ages.

Also, Peter Pan and Dumbo are both still on Disney+.
Would you still want her character to be added in some way in the new movie?
Thanks for the correction about Disney plus (I guess it just blocks the movies for certain age groups).

HM should not get an update and no a movie character should not be added.
The movie is pretty old and irrelevant anymore anyways.

The JC update is not adding characters from the movie as far as I know.

I think it would be if the movie had gotten released and was a big hit. If it was a flop they would just ignore it (see Haunted Mansion). I've been greatly looking forward to the movie!

Technically, she is supposed to be the ghost bride from the ride. Disney still recognizes it. I just though it would be cool if they added the famous portrait to the ride.

I'm on the fence about the movie. JC is one of my absolute favorite attractions and I love the puns. I'm just afraid the movie will in no way live up to my high expectations.

I can see that. I still want to see it though. The trailer was pretty good.

I have no idea. I don't think I ever watched the whole movie and the bits I did see were over 15 years ago, so I don't remember the character at all.

Kinda - the bride in the ride is Constance Hatchaway and she was a serial killer, the classic "black widow." In the movie there was more aa Romeo & Juliet kind of romantic misunderstanding. Some of the imagery is the same, but the movie really went it's own direcion.

Well you could say Pirates of the Caribbean did the same thing.....

What I was thinking is that they could add a small reference to the character almost like the deed being handed to Owl from Mr. Toad.

I voted no because I don’t think many people would know who that character is. I just watched it again recently on Disney+, and that’s only because I like Eddie Murphy. Before that I don’t even think I would have recognized that character if she was in the ride.

Well, yeah, they did - and they should. There is a difference in telling a story through ride scenes and writing for a movie. It's fine for them to be distinct. I just wouldn't say that Elizabeth and Constance are the same.

I agree if the original movie had been a huge hit it would be worth considering, but seeing how things played out, best to just leave it alone. I'm cool with enhancing or adding some effects. Another thought is that if they are considering removing the Johnny Depp anamatronic in POTC, Disney might be gun shy about adding film characters. You never know when an actor is going to go off the rails.

Sometimes I wonder if cast members just make up some of the folklore of the rides on the fly and then Disney just roles with it. 🤣

I don’t know who the character is, as I saw the movie way back when. However, I have no problem updating the bride ghost. She has been through several updates through the years anyway. I liked the earlier ones, with glowing eyes or a beating heart. That was scary. Constance is just meh on the scary scale.
