DL Transient Occupancy Tax

Part of me thinks it's a great idea and another thinks it's a terrible idea. Mostly because of ROFR and the fact that I would want to try and book for May with the points. That does give me a few months for it to all happen and still be in the 7-11 month window if something is accepted soon, but much tighter than I would personally like.

There's a contract sitting out there that seems like it would be perfect. I need to sleep on it. Otherwise that money goes to more VGF or PVB if the direct sale gets better. I just have to think about what I truly want most.
FWIW, I would expect weekends in May to book before you could clear ROFR and load points, when I checked April a few days ago it was already patchy.

Thanks for your honesty! Do you think this would be the same for a one-bedroom? 🤔

If I got the contract I was eyeing it would have enough that I would want the larger villa.
I’m tagging in @AstroBlasters who is our resident VGC expert because this is the first year I’ve had VGC points more than 11mo in advance (and I tend to target studios).

I’m on a plane with painful WiFi or I would look this up to you, but I think what I notice is that point chart jumps a bit in late April and then jumps a lot in June, so I think people try to snag weekends in April/May to take advantage of the relatively lower costs before summer spikes.

@PolyRob

Per https://www.dvchelp.com/page/the-villas-at-grand-californian-hotel-availability-charts, it depends on when in May.

In general, kids are still in school and like WDW the 1 bedroom is easier to book than a studio or 2 bedroom.

It’s in a lower point cost period, https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/media/dvc/catalog/resorts/dvc-resorts/GCAL-2026.pdf.

I think you should be good at 9-10 months out.

Thank you!

I should probably just make the offer so I know if I have a chance or not. I would probably stalk the one-bedroom availability with the F12 trick if it was accepted. 🤣

Tell me more about this F12 trick…
This explains it well. It crosses over into inventory so screenshots would get removed (like the post I am linking below). My keystroke for dev tools is F12 because I am using Chrome.

Oh man rabbit hole opened. I know what I am reading up on tonight
