DD has a Zune. She wanted an itouch for Christmas but after researching it, it seemed like she would lose all her Zune songs so I was all set to buy the Zune HD. Someone told me to dump all her Zune stuff into itunes. If itunes converted the songs, they could go on the itouch. I just did that and itunes converted everything except 38 songs out of over 1500. :cool1: However, I am still afraid to hit the "buy it" button. If I spend close to $300 and it doesn't work, I am not going to be a happy camper. So I am asking around to get opinions. If itunes converted the songs and they are in the library, will they sync with the itouch? Thanks!

you should be able to download itunes for free, and then see if the songs currently on your pc show up/are available to it.... if they were purchased through zune, it's possible they have a drm protection on them (so they can only be played on the zune... same goes for songs purchased from itunes with drm protection; they can't be played on another mp3 player).

there are programs out there that will remove the drm protection from the song, so it can be played on any mp3 player; so if that's the case here, you can just do a google search for something like 'drm removal' and see what's out there

I did download itunes and almost every song shows up in the itunes library. I was given a message early on about the songs not being in the correct format and did I want itunes to convert them. I said yes. There were 38 that couldn't be converted but all the rest are in the itunes library.

The 38 that wouldn't convert may be the ones that had DRM protection on them. But long story short, if the songs & videos are in iTunes, they will be able to be synced to the iPod Touch. If, for some reason, any songs won't sync (like you get a message in iTunes saying that they can't be synced to the device because they cannot be played on it), you can right-click on the song in question in iTunes and then select "Create mp3 version," and iTunes will create a copy of the song that will be playable/syncable. Same goes for videos and movies. You can right-click the one in question and then select "Create iPod/iPhone version," and let iTunes do the dirty work for you. :)
