IF Obama doesn't win, will there be rioting?

Sure. It started with "he's inexperienced" and moved on to liberal/muslim/foreign/socialist. It makes sense that the last gasp would be "there'll be blood in the streets!"

I would like to see the man who is potentially our next President stand up and say something directly to his supporters regarding this incident in Philadelphia before something terrible happens:sad2:

I find all those talk about riots if Obama doesn't win really racists. Why doesn't anyone asks if there'll be rioting if McCain loses?

I'm really sick of it!

Me too, except I've been without internet for a few weeks and have only just heard of it today on the DIS (you know, the happy, friendly, Disney site...).

BTW, I love your sig. I wish I'd found it weeks ago!!:thumbsup2

Which incident?

The clip you posted that is two guys that just happen to be black?

Guess what? I just saw on the news that a white guy in Deerfield Beach, FL went into a polling station in a mostly black area and started telling Democrats that they were in the wrong place and had to go vote elsewhere.

So, are you calling for McCain to address his supporters directly before something terrible happens?

aint goin to be no riot. folks from all walks a life aint standing in line for hours and hours to vote for mccain. young people are voting in record numbers and guess who they votin for? same with all americans of color

as long as the repubs put away the dirty tricks they used in the past and allow the voice of the people to be heard and counted there wont be no problem. obama will win by a landside darlin no doubt about it and mother cant remember when folks been this excited

Nice use of the English language!!!

I find all those talk about riots if Obama doesn't win really racists.

And I find people who scream racist in this instance to be woefully naive, uninformed, and apparently not living anywhere near areas where this can potentially happen. :sad2:

Those of us who live with the attitude day in and day out, who work to service people in those environments and are exposed to the entitlement issues displayed, know better. It's not racist; it's not a particular ethnic group; it's definitely not color-dependent. It's attitude-dependent, entitlement-dependent, upbringing-dependent. Those of us who believe there might be problems aren't racists. We just know the environment of our surroundings. Again, that has nothing to do with color.

That being said, I hope and pray all of you who say there won't be riots if Obama loses are right and aren't giving your fellow Americans too much credit.

No. I really don't believe so. When riots happen after football games or whatever, I think alcohol plays a huge role. I'm not sure about McCain's rally, but I know that they are not serving any alcohol at Obama's. My guess is both campaigns are handling it the same way.

And if people are really that angry (however it turns out), hopefully they will "use their words" as we tell our children!!! Violence doesn't solve anything!

I don't think that there will be rioting, but I don't think it is a silly question either. Why ask it about Obama and not McCain? Here are just a few reasons, none of which have to do with race:

1) Obama is widely expected to win. People get more emotion over surprise losses than losses that they expect.

2) There is still great bitterness over the 2000 (and for some the 2004) elections, with a sense that they were lost by the Democrats unfairly. That bitterness is much more likely to lead to an impulsive reaction than a loss for the Republicans.

3) Since the 60s, most politically motivated riots have occurred with people on the left doing the rioting. That's true of the Vietnam protests, the riots in reaction to Dr. King's assassination, the riot's in reaction to Senator Kennedy's assassintation, and the more recent anti-globalization riots. Extremist on the right have unquestionably used violence to achieve their goals (Rudolph, McVeigh, KKK, etc), but it has usually not taken the form of riots.

So people on the left may riot if Obama doesn't win and people on the right may assassinate him if he wins.

I bought four bags of marshmallows to roast just in case! I love a good riot too!

BTW!! Those of you afraid of rioting I have a fool proof remedy for you...

Run, don't walk, to the nearest Obama headquarters and get a bunch of Obama bumper stickers! Glue them all over your cars so you will be "passed over"!!! Hurry do it now!!!!!;)

So the black folks will be rioting if he doesn't win and the white folks will be planning his assassination (albait probably not by linching/hanging, not too practical for this situation) if he does.

"By every account, expect a record turnout Tuesday at the polls. It’s been a long almost two-year long journey that could produce an historic candidacy either way.

Law enforcement officials have factored in the high volume, compounded by fair weather predictions, and the number of passionate supporters. They've decided to up security measures in response.

Rescue 4 obtained an intelligence bulletin from Oct. 30 from the Michigan State Police. It alerts local law enforcement to the protocols for arresting unruly voters.

Detroit Police are also prepared to beef up security at polling locations.

“Our officers are on the streets. They're vigilant. All of the polls are receiving special attention and we're prepared to respond if we do have a problem,” said Chief James Barren.

What’s more, every Detroit officer will work Election Day, no one was allowed to take time off.

Meanwhile, the FBI also put out a bulletin warning colleges. Young voters have been courted heavily in this election. The FBI is telling school leaders to be aware of out-of-hand celebrations or angry defeat demonstrations."

Note that the FBI is warning colleges to prepare for potential issues. How is that racist? Last time I checked, colleges were filled with people of all races and ethnicities. So for those of you saying those of us who are concerned are racists (which is really unbelievable), let me say again, it's a MENTALITY we're concerned with, not a race.

I don't think there will be rioting, but I do believe that some nut will take him out of office before his term is over.

That's what I was going to say too...history. Even Oprah, after OJ's trial (the murder trial, when he was acquitted), responded "history" (in passing...not to make a big statement about it) when a black audience member expressed how insulted she was at the suggestion that there would be rioting if OJ was found guilty. NO ONE is saying that all black people...or even MANY black people...are going to run into the streets, rioting and rampaging. But I do believe that there would be riots in certain already unstable cities if Obama is not elected.

I also believe that if he is elected, there will be some sort of violence by whites...not necessarily rioting, but more targeted (and I hope not against him)...and that makes me just as sick. I'm taking DD back to college tonight, and spending the night nearby (but NOT in the nearby city...no way), so that I'm there "just in case" something happens. Several white students were arrested and expelled for threatening black students. It makes me sick, and very very sad.
