If July is your month, I would reconsider

I am a former central Florida resident and castmember and there was a huge problem with most of the Brazilian groups. After a great deal of complaints by cast and guests, I was told Disney issued some guidlines to the groups. From what I am reading on this thread, the organizers have maybe taken the advice to heart.

Every once in a while the tour group thread pops up.

Some people have horrible experiences with them (cutting in line, plowing people over, general rude behavior).

Some people have great experiences with them (polite behavior, learning a new culture, etc).

Has nothing to do with tolerance. SOME tour groups are great & SOME tour groups are just down right awful. Nothing to do with race, religion or creed. People are people. Some are good, some suck.

Ever consider a little tolerance???? I am amazed that anyone would want to reconsider going to WDW during a specific month because a certain group of tourists will be there. To each his own, but I think more tolerance is needed on your part... or maybe it is just my Northern mentality :sad2:
Oh, Puh-LEEZE! Like Northerners are more tolerant! Some of the worst bigots I know live in my town (which, by the bye, has a very large Brazilian population). So let's not play THAT particular card, if you please.

your right...July is too cold for us...we are going in August instead!

Thanks for the heads up!!! :cool1:

We saw Brazillian groups in December. Overall they weren't a bother, but there a few 'rude' encounters in line. I also witnessed them walking in a line chanting at MGM one day, wasn't sure why?

I'm sure they go all year long.

our last 4 trips have have all been in july and have had only one incident with a tour group. it was just one person in line in front of us and by the time he reached the front of the line all of a sudden he was joined by many friends. the CM saw this and let us go on first because there wasnt anyone on line behind us. the ironic thing is that the fastpasses they were trying to use was for a different ride. otherwise i have always seen them having fun just like all other teenagers.

I remember back in the mid to late 90's there were many more of these Brazilian tour groups, I think their economy took a downturn and I see them less frequently, but they're stll coming. Now I see more from other countries like Argentina. What's funny is that whenthey were coming in bunches they were very disorderly and I hear that the tour agencies made them watch tapes of how not to behave since theme parks were becoming furious with them. The chanting in lines I actually enjoy, especially in a long line, but start cutting and becoming extra rowdy and the chaperones should take'm back to the hotel!!

I lived in Brazil for a few years and the behaviour sounds fairly typical, both the negative and the positive. Brazilians tend to be outgoing and a little rowdy, and if they're teenagers then watch out. But they're also a lot of fun. But I agree with many of the above comments you'll find good and bad in any group. I however would love to tour with a group of Brazilians

The chanting is a form of samba which is common in Brazil they probably didn't have the drums so it was probably alot quieter than what I remember.

Spanish writing on their shirts? Brazilians speak Portuguese. ;)

I think I'll go in July and chant with them! It'll be fun. They can chant in Portuguese and I'll chant in Spanish. :woohoo:

While waiting in ALL of the fast pass lanes, the tee shirts were singing and chanting some sort of song as if they were watching a soccer match.

I'd go just to hear the singing tee shirts!! Do they all have buttons to press to play songs, or what? And, assuming they're battery powered, a passing thunderstorm could be very much bad for them?

We were there this last July (8th-13th) and although we did see a lot of teens grouped by colored shirts, we didn't have a problem. It was hot and crowded, and we still enjoyed ourselves. We were prepared mentally for the crowds and physically for the heat. We brought fans, and a small cooler for our water which we froze. We were at the parks first thing in the morning and still had a couple of hours before the huge crowds arrived. Of course there are better times to go to Florida than July, (because of the heat and crowds) but going in July beats not going at all! If you head to WDW prepared, you can still have a wonderful vacation...even in July.

ITA!!!!!!!!!!! We were there last July 13 to 20. We worked it just like the above poster and it was wonderful, one of the best weeks of our lives. :thumbsup2
Of course the other really nice thing is how nice WDW is after the sun goes down, and in July you have hours and hours to enjoy that. Here's an example of one day of our trip last year. We ate breakfast in our room (WL), then headed right to MK. We toured all morning, using fastpass, and waited in no lines longer than five minutes. At midday, we had lunch, then headed back to the resort for rest and swimming. Evening, we headed over to the Boardwalk, had dinner at Flying Fish, walked the Boardwalk for a bit, then took the water taxi over to MGM. DD and I walked onto Tower of Terror, then we all caught the second show of Fantasmic. What a wonderful, wonderful day.

ITA! If you are rude, I don't care if you're PURPLE, I just want to slap you silly!! :darth: :teeth:

We go every July. Have been for the past 11 years. It is the only time DH can get off. We have seen mobs of tour groups through the years but truly have never been bothered by it. They are people in the park just like everyone else. The tours that I have come in contact with have been friendly and even helpful. One year they got us through main street with a stroller during parade time just by asking each other to move- in portuguese of course- so it might have been more than move lol) Last year the only time we ran into them was one lunch time in the Electric Umbrella in EPCOT(I think that is what it is called) So while it was crowded- again the tour group helped us find a table and got us additional chairs for our children. Very well behaved and kind. So I say let it keep you away more room for us :cheer2:

You speak abotu tolerance and then make that comment about your Northern Mentality? Get over yourself and your region.

I go every year in July. It is crowded, it is hot, there are a lot of tour groups. I plan around it. The tour groups are often teenagers acting like teenagers in a group. Though it is not always pleasant to see (as a high school teacher sometimes just seeing teenagers in crowds makes me want to run for cover when on vacation! :rotfl2: ), dancing and chanting doesn't bother me, large seas of a certain color tee shirt don't bother me, rude, ignorant, inconsoderate behavior bothers me. Some of the rudest behavior I've encountered in the parks has to do with smaller families or individulas that do not follow rules and directions. I find the family that plops down in the middle of the theater rude and disturbing, I find the family that has Dad take Jr. to pee under the tree rude and disturbing...well, you get the picture!

You can count me as one that considers the summer tour groups as a reason to reconsider summer months. Granteed there are other reason that I choose not to go in the summer like HEAT! and CROWDS but these tour groups do put a damper on things. They are rude! One holds the spot in line and then when they get to the front, the other 40 jump in. Oh man does that burn me! I don't think they believe in deodorant either.
:confused3

We have gone in July and October. July is bad for Tropical Storms but we love it. We have gotten hit everytime. It just makes it more exciting for us, plus the parks clear out. Going on KS at the AK is awesome in a downpour. We have never been bothered by big tour groups, only cheerleaders who randomly break out in cheers right in front of the bathrooms at TOT/ RNR, in the middle of the fastpass madhouse causing more of a traffic jam because people stop and ogle the tween age girls with big bows and mini-shorts doing cheers for no apparent reason but to annoy people who really have to pee and have no where else to go....but I digress...July is aweswome. You are at Disney, how can anyone be unhappy?

Of course someone who doesn't speak either spanish or portugese might have a hard time distinguishing between the two as they are very similar.
