I have no desire for SSR since my parents own at OKW. I like to be in the Magic Kingdom area. So if I decide to waitlist for VWL, would the incentives (such as using points for downpayment help, or bonus points etc) be available to me???

Thanks

From what I understand, the incentives are good only on the purchase of SSR points and not good on the sold out resorts.

HBC

HBC is correct. There are currently no incentives when purchasing the sold out DVC resorts and the points are currently $89 per point.

and given this information I wouldn't buy VWL through Disney - I would go to the Timeshare store and buy a resale! It'll be cheaper!

Well, that stinks :sad1: Thanks for all the quick answers. Maybe I will have to look into SSR. The decor is so beautiful there. I just wanted to be on Bay Lake. I know VWL is small. Is it hard to get in at the seven month window???

Miss Park Avenue, we just added on at VWL (150 more points). I was reallly tempted to just go with SSR when the new incentives came out (we were on the waitlist for Feb. UY). But in the end, I decided that I really wanted more VWL points. After the extra points and free dues for one year were gone, I would have had buyers remorse and wished I would have just waited on VWL, so that is why we went ahead and purchased VWL again. We did get a lovely DVC backpack and VWL litho!! :rotfl: What a bargain for 13K! :teeth: If you really want VWL than don't let the SSR deal tempt you. When your trying to make Christmas reservations at the 7 month window, because you bought at SSR instead of VWL you'll probably be dissappointed. JMHO. Good luck with your decision.

In direct answer to your question, it just depends. December is really tough, as are most holiday periods. My feeling is since VWL is the smallest DVC, that it will only get harder as DVC grows. Again JMHO.

I own at OKW and BWV, but I couldn't get in there at the 7 month window last Christmas. I did, however, get into VWL. It was like the room was waiting just for me! :sunny: It was terrific sitting by the fireplace in the rocking chairs, reading for the afternoon, near the Christmas tree. I felt like I was in a (very) large version of my family room.
