OMG the caramel shop in Germany is AWESOME!!!! We stopped by there the last time we were at Epcot, and I got a vanilla caramel fudge square, and chocolate caramel strawberry, and WHOA!!! They were BOTH awesome!!! All the goodies in there look good, I think I'm gonna spend ALL my snack credits in there on our Epcot day!! LOL

I thinking visiting the caramel shop is on my top 5 things I'm most looking forward to doing this trip--is that crazy?? I cannot wait to try it!!

I cannot wait to get in there. I have looked at countless pictures to see all the options. I am trying to figure out what I want now, b/c I know when I get in there I will freeze with so many choices. I want to get everything. I wonder what the limit is to order without looking totally crazy? 4 things, 5? :rotfl:

Not crazy at all! I haven't really picked out any attractions or rides I must do, but I know I have to hit up the caramel shop:thumbsup2

Wow. I was thinking more like 10... (a girl needs a little something Disney to take home doesn't she??)

So see? You won't look very crazy after all!! ;)

The plans for the first day are looking good. :thumbsup2 An afternoon in the swimming pool is such a wonderful way to start your trip.

At World Showcase I really enjoyed the CS at Morocco and I have heard the cheese platter from France is also to die for. ;) This time around I will make an effort to have the funnel cake. Van<t believe I have never tried it.

I think we will be at Epcot on the same day BTW. We have reservations to eat at San Angel Inn that night. Maybe we will cross each other at some point.

See you!

I gained 5 lbs just walking thru the line!! They put the line right in front of the glass cases, so you can SEE all the goodies and such. I was only gonna get one thing when we went, but had to get 2 when I saw how good everything looked. They had some really nice cupcakes that looked really good too, but my diet wouldn't like that LOL

10 does sound good. I am worried about getting too much and having it melt before I get back to the room. Maybe if we stop there before heading back?

If we could do it my way we would head over to EPCOT first and come back to the pool later. Caitlin wants to hit the pool as soon as we get there though.

I have never had a funnel cake either! It is on my must try list.

:thumbsup2

I've seen the cupcakes and they do look good. I have heard that they are not as good as they look though:confused3 That just leaves more room for something else. I wouldn't even attempt any type of diet as Disney. Diets go right out the window as soon as I wake up day 1.

The caramel shop is divine. We had their fresh made caramel corn, a chocolate and caramel covered strawberry, rice crispy treats that had been dipped in chocolate and drizzled in caramel, and a cupcake! :rotfl: Not all in one day, mind you... in fact, one of the rice crispy treats made the trip home! But I can tell you that everything was worth the calories...and I didn't come away from this trip feeling that way about much that we ate, unfortunately.

Sounds like you made good use of your snack credits.:thumbsup2

Day 2 Sunday
Our first full day at Disney.
I have 3 days that are open for AK, US and IOA.
I was thinking of doing US/IOA on Sat. and Thurs., and then have Tues. left for AK.
Caitlin must sense that our trip is coming up soon b/c she has been very vocal in makes our Disney plans.
Here are her plans: Day 1- pools , Day 2- AK, Day 3 EPCOT, 4 MK, 5 US, 6 SWW, 7 US,8 SWW

The MK day and SWW days are already set so I can’t go in her order but I figure if AK is the park she wants to go to first I may as well plan my trip around a 6 year old.

Assuming we go to AK this day I made a breakfast ADR at RFC for 8:30am. We had breakfast at Tusker house last year and I figured we could try something new. We have a RFC in CT but it is over an hour away and we have never been there. Caitlin is a huge animal lover so I think she’ll like eating here. I have been going back and forth between breakfast and lunch but I just don’t want to worry about stopping what we are doing to have to make it to a lunch ADR.

Here is Caitlin at Tusker house last year. I am pretty sure that doughnut is all that she ate. Being on the dxdp it didn’t seem to bad but paying OOP for her to eat a doughnut would really annoy me.

Now, is it just me or does anyone else having a hard time pinning down what to do in AK? For all the other parks I can make some sort of plan of what to do but I always feel a bit lost in AK.
I do have a few must dos for our day since we missed them last trip.
#1- Festival of the Lion King
FestivalOfTheLionKing.jpg

LionKing-1.jpg

We have never seen it and I have heard it is very good. Caitlin has been watching the movie lately so it should be easy to convince her to see it.
I would also like to see the Nemo show, but if we can only fit in one it will be the Lion King.

.

2. Safari- We went first thing in the morning and there were so many more animals than the other times I have been on it. Caitlin would probably ride this all day if we let her since she loves animals so much. We were looking at pictures and we saw some of her favorites Big Cats and she doesn’t remember any since they are so far away. She is looking forward to finding them this time.

Hmmm, that is pretty much it for must dos. Sad, right? There are many things that I would like to do but if we don’t get the chance I won’t mind.

Kali Rapids- The line was way too long last year and the fast passes were gone by the time we got around to getting them.
kali-river-ride-animaml-kingdom-orlando-1.jpg

Flights of Wonder- we haven’t seen it. Is it worth the time?
BFB201.jpg

Camp Minnie Mickey- I am sure Caitlin will be on a character hunt again so we will have to stop here.
BFC000-1.jpg

EE- Maybe this should be a must do. It is probably the best coaster that Caitlin was able to ride since she is still under 48”.
imagesCAW7X6M5.jpg

Am I missing anything big? We might try going out to Rafiki’s area if we have time. I like to just relax and go with the flow in AK. I think the scenery is so pretty and don’t really need to fill the day doing rides and shows, but don’t want to miss anything good.

I would love to try either Yak and Yeti CS or Flame Tree for lunch. These were also my choices last year and we ended up at Pizzafari. It was disgusting so I refuse to go there again this year.

Knowing DH and DD we will probably end up at Restaurtosauras
imagesCA8OGV66.jpg

There aren’t too many interesting snack choices that I have seen in AK.
lvi511624SMALL.jpg

This cupcake does look good though.
Last year I tried the jalapeño pretzel people mention and I wasn’t a big fan.

Sorry about the pictures being different sizes. Photobucket keeps crashing on me.

The most important things first--the food.
I tried the jalapeno pretzel last year and didn't love it, either. Meh. Maybe I built it up in my mind too much:sad2:.
We're probably going to do RFC, as well. We went to the one in DTD for dinner last trip, and I'm planning lunch this time (we're not big on breakfast). However, if we don't think we'll make it, I'll drop it in a heartbeat and head to Pizzafari. I don't interrupt plans for meals unless they're spectacular!

You are not the only one who has troubles with AK (though planning out HS is harder for me). Like you, I pretty much have a list of "must do" attractions. Believe it or not, we've never see FOTLK, either! That's high on our list for this time. We've also never done Kali River Rapids, and my kids can't wait for that one.

Sigh...I love reading plans...

I would really like to try lunch too, I just can't seem to pick when to make an ADR for.:confused3 I am kind of thinking that if I make a lunch ADR for 1pm we could go to WPE for breakfast this day. I don't mind getting to AK a little later and I really want to try WPE for breakfast. I'll probably change it back and forth a few times but at least I know we will end up at RFC at some point in our day.

I was bummed that I didn't like the pretzel. I think I was just expecting a different taste.

DHS is tough to plan too. Mk and EPCOT just seems so much easier to map out.

You must be excited that your 180 day is coming up soon. When is it anyway?
Your trip will seem so much closer once you are able to get those scheduled.

I haven't decided on a time yet, either. I was thinking 12:30-1.
My 180 mark is March 21! Less than two weeks!

It was funny...I had the lowest expectations for our day at AK and it was one of our best. :confused3 We had breakfast first thing at Tusker House, which we all enjoyed. I thought the food was great. I would kill for some more of that bread pudding!

Then we hit the safari, which was amazing.

After that, we walked back over to Camp Minnie Mickey, which is where FOLK is, btw. And that show was SO worth it! We all loved it.

Next, we hit a snack stand and got frozen lemonades and jalapeno pretzels with snack credits. So yummy! After our refreshing snack, we went to Its Tough to Be a Bug. Then it was on to the playground in Dinoland, which Max loved.

I would definitely say do EE. It is so much fun!

By the time Max hit the playground, we were about done for and after that, we went back to the resort.

tinacaplan

Doesn't sound like you had a very long day.

We left pretty early last time b/c it was so hot. I am hoping to stay for the majority of the day, but it will depend on the weather.

We will definitely have to get the frozen lemonades this year. Maybe that will keep us cool for a bit longer.

I can't believe you might go back in July. That will certainly be different weather than what you are used to:scared1:

I have so many places that I want to eat in EPCOT so I want to try at least one TS meal for dinner. We tried Le Cellier last trip and it was good but I want to try something new.

Here are some that are at the top of the list:

Biergarten- I struggle with this one b/c I am not sure about the food. I am also worried about getting stuck next to awful people at our table. However, DH and DD love to walk around and talk with a fake German accent and say "Ya Ya (or is it Ja Ja?) Wonderbar (or is it Vunderbar?)" I think they would like the music and entertainment. They do have some plain choices like chicken and stuff right? I wish they had a kids area then this would most likely by my choice.

Tutto- it just looks so good and I will book it on the weekend we are on the dxdp. No way I would eat here without a dining plan and who knows if we will be next time. On the other hand we have yummy italian places around here. Then again, I asked DH about a bunch of restaurant choices and he picked Italian.

Chefs De France- Love Love Love Onion soup. The rest of the menu looks like it could be hit or miss. We would schedule an early dinner or late lunch to see Remy :lovestruc (Ratatoullie is one of my favorite movies EVER!)

Garden Grill- Unless we have another kid by the next trip we probably won't be doing many character meals in the future. The menu doesn't look very good though. Since I have scaled back so many ADRs I think I want good food over Chip and Dale. Caitlin doesn't seem to care about seeing them although Pluto is her favorite. Then again, he is easy to find.

I think that's it. Okay, well maybe just skip all these and eat at Raglan Road which I have heard good things about.

What do you guys think? I need to hurry up and decide b/c adrs are starting to close up:scared1:

I think you have some good ideas for your AK day. It is certainly harder to plan than Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I agree that Festival of the Lion King is a must see. We haven't seen Nemo yet either. I find the length a little intimidating.

I would probably switch to the lunch at Rainforest, too. I think by mid-day you will want a break in the air conditioning.

Now, for Epcot dining - I liked the food at Biergarten, but didn't love it. There were some "American standards" in addition to the German foods. My problem is that I love German food and some of my favorite German dishes weren't there.

I adore Tutto and agree that you should only do it if you are on the dining plan.

I haven't tried Chefs or Garden Grill, so I can't comment on those.

If I was on DDP, among these choices I would certainly go with Tutto. Without the DDP, I would go with Chefs so you could get the onion soup and dessert and wouldn't feel the need to get anything else just because you already paid for it.
