We have mostly stayed at deluxes and most recently stayed on CL and really loved it. We (well mostly me) wanted to take a quick trip to WDW (no parks), jan. 2-4, since we will already be in florida visiting family anyways. My point is in order to save some money we thought that we would try CSR-business class. Now I am second guessing myself and thinking should I just spend the extra $300 and stay at AKL-CL? It would be double the price, so I just can't decide. We have stayed at POFQ several years ago and liked it but as they say once you stay deluxe its hard to go back!:confused3

Well, it is the most deluxe of the moderates. I like it quite a bit. We've really cut back Deluxe stays for our family with the incredibly expensive prices they charge now and CSR is a good choice.

CSR is a fabulous resort, it is the next best thing to a deluxe, IMHO. The bus transportation was great, I love the theming. The CSR has the business club level. One of my co workers recently stayed there at the club level and thought it was great

We usually stay at deluxe, have stayed at moderates when doing a quick trip. CSR in my opinion, is the best of all the moderates.

What you miss by not staying at a deluxe ... indoor hallways, a patio/balcony, room service.

i would probably spend the extra money considering you don't intend to be in the parks. i would be looking for a great pool and dining options if i were doing a resort stay. either way i think it will be a nice trip. only been to csr for the pepper market and i think it is a really nice choice if you do decide to save money.

We stayed at CSR two nights followed by 6 nights BC CL last October. We had only stayed deluxe prior to that, and worried we wouldn't be happy in a moderate. We decided to give CSR a try for a couple of nights though. We did not care for it, and if BC had a room available we would have moved after the 1st night. To be fair, all of our stays the past several years have been CL at either Poly or BC, and that's what we were used to. We gave CSR a chance, but it just wasn't for us.

How much are you going to be at the hotel? If you are in the room a lot, the CL lounge would be nice, but, otherwise, CSR is beautiful and the rooms are nice. There won't be animals wandering around outside your window though.

We usually stay deluxe, too, but we did stay at CSR a couple of years ago (after several deluxe stays) and liked it very much. If I ever stay moderate again, it will be at CSR (we've also stayed at POR and POFQ). If the business class has a lounge, then I think it would be OK to give it a whirl. The grounds are beautiful and the Dig Site Pool is pretty and has a great slide.

That said, if I was doing a non-park trip, I'd be staying YC CL:).

Hated CSR to no end.... Swore never to return.. Conventioneers, awful Pepper Market food court ( with unnecessary tipping)

Huge, spread resort making mug refills a pain and same for pool, can be at opposite ends of resort and not everyone can get close rooms ( only so many and too many people wanting)

We'll take POFQ any day over CSR and POR... We were deluxe people all the way , 45+ deluxe, last 3 and up coming POFQ.... we stay longer, miss little and enjoy the compactness of the resort!

Would it have to be CL? Maybe you could stay at AKL with a pool or Savannah view and the extra amount won't quite be $300. I personally would go with the deluxe, especially since you are not going to any of the parks.

I agree with the other PP. If you want to save a little money, do AKL, but drop the CL. We stayed standard view at AKV (a no-park trip!) and it was FABULOUS! You really do not need to leave that resort.

If you aren't going to the parks, would you consider the Waldorf or Ritz-Carlton? Or, if you want to stay on Disney property, how about the Swan or Dolphin for about the same price as CSR?

IMHO, Disney upcharges their resorts because of resort perks (EMH, DME) and proximity to the parks, none of which you need. CSR, in my opinion, is not worth the price, if you just want a resort experience, when you could get a better resort experience for the same (or less) price in the Orlando area.

But, yes, if you want to stay at a WDW resort - AKL over CSR!!!!

You all have made some very valid points! I have thought about the Waldorf and the Ritz but we are military so we are getting the room for 35% which makes it not that bad. of a deal, like $150/night (tax included). Why, CL? well we just love Cl and really at AKL, the difference between CL and the main savannah view is $2. THat's without any discounts so I guess with the 40% off its like $1.20/night. Not really that big of savings! I love WDW at Christmas, I just don't love how crowded the parks are, so that's why I just want a couple of days at a resort to relax, have a glass of wine and see some decorations. Just trying to decide where the best place to do that is!

Since you are focusing on a resort stay, it would have to be deluxe all the way!

Enjoy knowing you WILL love it and appreciate it. :goodvibes
