for our trip to WDW in June? What have you found there that became useful?

Kathy

We will be there at the same time! :Pinkbounc Same resort for part of the trip. :bounce:

I usually buy my toiletries as I think of them. One of the key things (IMO) you need is moleskin. It is a foot saver. I will think on this a bit and write more tonight.

the $1 plastic disposable rain ponchos (in camping section). They are MUCH cheaper than the ones at WDW and maybe a cheap foldable umbrella if ponchos aren't your thing, the cheap $1.50(?) battery operated handheld fans or the spritzer fans ($4-5), ball caps or hats that you won't care about if left on a ride, cheap sunglasses (again, no worries if left behind) disposable camera for your kids to take pictures...that should get you started!

From Walmart, I picked up a mister fan, pain meds for our DD1 who has been teething, Nutrigrain breakfast bars (cheaper than the grocery store -- look out for the $1 off 3 boxes coupon on the side of box), Disney sunglasses, refill cards for our prepaid cell phones, new swim trunks for DH and DS3...wow, I must REALLY shop at Walmart. :)

Check your WalMart (in the plumbing section with all the water filters and pitchers) for Brita Fill and Go sports bottles. Water at WDW has a very metalic tasts and the Brita bottles have small filters in the spout that take the taste away.

The bottles have been discontinued by Brita, but some WalMarts, Giant Food, and Shoppers Food Warehouses still have them. WalMart recently marked them down to $4.50, which is why they have been flying off the shelves, but the other stores still want about $8 for them. Well worth the $8!

Moleskins are a lifesaver! Last summer, my local WM had trial sizes of Gold Bond powder. I used that stuff like crazy during our july trip. I agree with the above posters about ponchos. Don't get caught having to buy those darling (expensive!) Mickey ponchos when the downpours hit. However, I buy mine from the Dollar store (2 in a pack for a dollar). One of these folded actually fits in my fanny pack, then I throw it away after use.
I would also suggest sunscreen in tubes (easier to fit in a fanny pack) and also a tube of hydrocortisone cream for chafing and rashes. Don't forget lipbalm with a sunscreen. :cool1:

Pepto tablets, Tums, Bonine, Advil, cold meds, asorbine Jr, bandaids
granola bars/other snacks
travel size shampoo/conditioner

Dawn dishwashing wipes
travel size baby powder or gold bond powder
peppermint lotion for feet
moleskin/blister pads/corn pads
Lysol
plug-in air freshner

Brita Fill & Go Bottles
zip lock bags in all sizes

razors
extra memory cards for cameras
travel size contact lens solution
disposable water cameras
fat pen for autographs
gum
crystal light to go
cheap laundry bag for dirty clothes
cleansing/make-up remover towelettes
travel size Sea Breeze

In the party section of your walmart you can get tiny decks of cards (great for the trip and when stuck waiting for a restaurant) also you can get glow sticks, necklesses and bracelets for a lot less than in the parks, these are great for night events and dark rides! With a group that large you may want to pick up catchphrase, its an electronic handheld game best played in groups larger than 4, it's fun and helpspass time on busses and in lines for everyone!

If you have children,, don't forget all they need:
Chewable tylenol
Sun visors
Sunblock
snacks for kids
travel size wipes, tissues, stuff for them to do. Etc...

This may be a silly question but what is moleskin?

Moleskin is a covering that you can get to put on your feet, where blisters might form. It has an adhesive back, on one side, and a padding on the other. For instance DH, puts it on the top of his feet, so his sandals don't rub. It comes in sheets, and you cut it to size. Just be sure to pack some scissors, or cut it before your trip.

I was at Walmart yesterday. Picked up a few packs of the crayola markers, and paper. It is the kind that only writes on that paper, so great for the plane, and airport.

Also- They had some very cute princess photo albums, (4x6), for $1.86. They will make excellent Tinkerbelle gifts for my girls in the room.

Downey wrinkle remover- Spray the clothes the night before, and no ironing in the AM.

Sunscreen- Walmart always seems to have a better selection of this than Target.

Waterprook disposable cameras. They are so fun, and tooo expensive at the parks.

I actually think I've bought everything for our trip now. Good thing since we leave Fri, and I work all week. Now to figure out how to get it all there. :earboy2:

On the subject of sunscreen:

Whatever SPF you buy at home, forget it. The Florida sun is much more harsh than it is in northern climes, and you will most definitely need a higher SPF.

I always buy Coppertone SPF 45, which is as high as I can find it around here. I think there are higher SPF sunscreens available, but I haven't seen them on shelves either here in Baltimore or at WDW.

Thanks :flower: I Can't believe I never heard of that before. I am the queen of blisters!

the infamous over-the-door shoe holder. Keeps all tolietries and important stuff easy to find/reach and off countertops! Be sure to NOT get a kid size one and it has clear pockets. We use this and it's great!! No more looking for sunglasses, toothbrushes are safe and sanitary, makeup, medicines, etc......

I was just at Wal-Mart and they had nifty little hand sanitizer packets for cheap. I usually carry a small bottle of it, but this is even better!

I was in Wal Mart the other day and bought a small bottle of sunscreen SPF 50 that was very small and had a caniber clip attached, so you could attach it to your pants loop. They also had a small tube of sunscreen SPF especially for the face that went on dry and the top was a little dabber thingy to apply it with. I bought both, because I always sunburn. In fact I'm peeling right now from a bad sunburn I got at my GD's soccer game two weeks ago. WillCAD is right the sun is alot stronger here in the south (and especially in Florida) than it is up north.

I haven't read the responses, but here is a tip I picked up on my last trip:

Take Crystal Light on-the-go packets. The Wal-Mart brand taste the same and you can get them in a little carrying case. It was so nice in WDW to add some lemonade to our bottled water :)

Dont forget to go to office supplies and get a Sharpie Click pen. They are great for autographs
:cool1:

We just picked up a waterproof disposable camera. They work very well for the pool/waterparks.
