can I switch my park reservation (based on availability) and go somewhere else that day? I'm aware the there is another chance at 1 pm for boarding groups. But I'm not sure if it's worth taking a chance on not getting one at that point too.

If there is room at the other park(s) then yes, you may cancel your DHS park reservation and book another park for the day.

Note that if you drop 1 park reservation to try and pick up another one, there isn't a guarantee that your original one will be available should you decide you don't want to switch. Right now that isn't happening too often but there have been times when all 4 parks were completely full so switching parks was not possible.

Yes, you can cancel your DHS reservation and book another park if available. FYI, many reports here of failure at 7 AM and success at 1 PM, but obviously it's your choice whether to try again or not.

After failing with the 7am one in both April and August, we (or rather my teen...who is not awake at 7am) got us the 1pm boarding group both times. In the past week + capacity has been low enough that there are reports people were getting boarding groups after park hopping at 2pm. I only gave us 1 day at HS both trips, with ADRs in the park, so no desire to try to switch parks same day. I think there is a lot more success at 1pm...as long as Rise is running well that day!

I have nothing official at all to support this but I'm also guessing that they drop more BGs at 1PM than do at 7AM.

The park normally opens at 9AM so basically they drop enough BGs for people to ride until maybe 2PM (aka 5 hours). By the time the 1PM drop comes along they have a good idea of how the ride is performing that day and also, will be filling BGs for the balance of the day which is normally around an additional 7-8 hours. Again, nothing official, just part of a guess as to why more people seem to be successful at 1PM.
