We had to book at PPH since there was no availability for my dates. I guess we will have to wait until November to experience vacationing at home..

No details have been released regarding the World of Color viewing deck. However given its limited size, I highly suspect it will be restricted to only registered guests at the Grand Californian.

I have never read anything which suggests that DVC members can pool hop at Disneyland.

Other discounts like shopping and dining are typically available when you present your DVC member ID. You should be able to take advantage of those discounts whether you are staying on points or not.

Make sure you are wait listed and call every day too -

We are trying to upgrade to 1 bedroom for June. When we booked at the 11 month mark a studio for 7 days sounded doable now I am wishing I had the 1 bedroom and its not available for all 7 days so I keep calling looking for a cancelation. They said its a 50/50 chance - just no history on room reservations GVC is too new.

You may only use the Disneyland Resort pools if you are a registered guest at the hotel. So, no you will not be able to use the pool at Grand Californian.
