If you've never been to Fantasmic and wanted to see it that night, which show would you attend and why?
We will not be at MGM that day...we'll be at MK until it gets too full of E-nighters or we get thrown out....I figure we'll finish there between 6 & 7pm as MK closes at 7pm. Could we hop over to MGM and do a really late dinner package say at 8pm and grab seats for the 10:30 Fantasmic? Or is that not necessary? We don't really want to do the dinner package if it's not necessary. We're having lunch at CRT at 1pm and I figure we won't have a big dinner, maybe some counter service...I don't know what to do here.
We were at MGM in April and they had two showings. We were going to watch the first show of Fantasmic but about 45 minutes before it started it was already standing room only. So we waited for the second show. We rode RnR and ToT while we waited. The second show was empty. The last two sections on both sides were empty. We sat upfont center. And we arrived 15 minutes before the show begain. Spend your day at MK then head over to MGM. Have a great trip.

This is exactly what I thought would work. Thanks for the confirmation. Glad we don't have to throw in the dinner plan. Your quote "we arrived 15 minutes early" was the clincher for me.
I'd still like to hear other opinions (or more votes for the same) in case there is something I haven't considered.
I'm really packing our nights!
Hoop De Doo night 1 (7:15)
MK Fireworks Cruise night 2 (9:15)
Fantasmic night 3(10:30pm)
I thought for sure DH would say "no way" to the 10:30 Fantasmic. We've never seen it and he's definitely not into Disney like I am. Well, he thought it sounds great and we're doing the 10:30pm show! Hurrah!
I guess I'll be the redundant third voice here, but I can vouch for the second show being a walk-on. We were there during the week after Easter (and, obviously if MGM has two showing of Fantasmic we're talking about peak season). We got into town late any my 4 year old was asleep by 8pm. With my 9 year old showing no signs of following suit I figured that MGM was open until 10pm, we could do the ToT and RnR duo.
While the lines for both rides were substantial (everyone pretty much flocks to that section of the park at night) when we were done it was already five minutes after the supposed start of Fantasmic, but the show hadn't started yet. We figured we would scope it out, and, sure enough, while the center of the seating area was packed the sides were completely empty. We went all the way down to the front row off to the side to be within the mist (hey, it's hot in April, even at night) and the view was a lot better than I thought it would be.
