I am wondering if any of you happen to be playing around with the online system if you could check something for me at your home resorts....

I am looking for 2 bedroom villa 11/16-11/26. Right now I have ressies at my home resort, Boardwalk, except for one night that was not availabile at all (11/22- Thanksgiving). I have that night waitlisted.

I am wondering whether anyone could check if their home resort has availabilty?

Because it is more than 11 months out I can only check my home resort. I am just wondering what is available at other resorts or if Thanksgiving night is completely booked everywhere! I know it will change a million times before the 7 month window but I am just curious how full things are looking.

If you have time, thanks!

If anyone wants anything checked at my home resort (Boardwalk) I do have access to the online system and I am willing to help someone else out as well.

At AKL, there are two bedrooms both standard and Savannah views at both Jambo and Kidani available for those dates :thumbsup2

But as you say, that may change as you get closer to your seven month window.

BLT is sold out of all views Wednesday and Thursday night.

There was great variance with the other nights, depending on the view and unit configuration: I noticed there was availability differences between regular 2 BR, and lock-off 2 BR.

Thank you!!! I know it could change and probably will but it gives me hope that there is something at at least one resort right now. Thanks for checking!!!

Ideally we hope our waitlist comes through and we just stay at our home resort the whole time anyway but if it doesn't then I hope something else is available for us to switch to for the full or part of the time. Don't want to move at all but definitely don't want to move more than once.

Thanks again!

Thanks to you as well! I really appreciate you checking for me!

SSR has 2 BR villa & 2 BR lock-off avail for those dates. THV has 16-18 & 24-25 avail but not 19-23.

Good luck to you.

In four months, nothing will look like it does now. Nothing at all may be available. It's kind of pointless to look now.

Yeah, and I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of these types of threads.

"My 7 month window is next week, can owners at such and such resort check availability for me??"

Which drives me nuts, because as you noted, whatever may be available now can be gone in the blink of an eye. Hopefully the moderaters put the kabosh on these types of threads...

Well glad to see I am not the only one that thinks this is huge misuse of a really good thing.

TJ has already stated and, I am sure he is correct, that the system will close if it gets overloaded.

Surely as members we know that even if you look now that it won't necessarily be accurate in even an hour much less months.:sad2:

I hope we don't see this type of action developing on the forums.

Sorry guys. I didn't think of how it might load it down. As a new member I was just curious about availability. I knew it would change. Was just curious. Sorry about wasting people's time. :sad2:

That was my first thought. And I also thought about asking. :rotfl2:

and here I was thinking that maybe the dis moderators, rather than banning these types of requests, should create a special forum to organize and streamline these requests and separate them from the regular threads.

But there is no point to them. Until the member can actually call and book, what's available isn't of any value to them. Except to know it might not be available (like what you find on the other DVC thread).

I agree...

generally speaking...this is tail chasing and just gets hopes up and consequently blood boiling when it doesn't work out.

it's not like its for the end of august and can be booked in a couple of days...this won't even be an option until April 15th...they'll have hundreds if not thousands of modifications to those dates by then.

these things probably should be banned...because people booking disney are generally irrational. no matter how many times they go there - they get all geeked up when they are under the mistaken impression as to what they can get and for how much.

Case in point...this morning i looked at BCV availability starting at the 7 month window on the online system (i have been keeping an eye since thursday to try to work our days out)
8/21 wasn't available...so i figured i'd look again tomorrow for the 22nd. Half hour later - it was available...so i called because i wanted to buy the 24 additional points...and by the time i did that - multiple rooms were open.

This is all in real time...there's no point of looking at "what ifs" unless you are booking at that moment.

That's what the wait lists are for...too bad they had to build saratoga and screw that up.

it's saratoga...of course it will be...

the biggest mistake they ever made.

Gosh, we really like SSR. It's not our home, but we willingly book there from time to time because we like it there.

I look at the prison-like KV as more of a mistake. But hopefully as the landscape fills out, it will not look so prison-like.

the problem is that saratoga is the least desirable location on the whole and they built 1000 units there...or 30% of the overall inventory.

It has log jammed the system that had run smoothly as far as freedom of movement prior to its construction.

Waitlists always used to come through...now they often don't.

That is directly related to saratoga...which was built on a failed site during the real estate bubble.
If you look at resales...saratoga is available about 8 to 1 over the rest of the sites. And that i directly attribute to people buying them on funny money credit card transactions because every "financial advisor" was telling them that all the numbers would work out.
Bubka...as we found out.

look at it this way: old key west is held in much higher regard by members than saratoga...but yet saratoga is actually far superior in amenities at this point.

we stay at saratoga occasionally and like it fine...but that is not the mass consensus i'm seeing. it is always the LAST place to be booked. And its the biggest...thats a problem. It messes everything up.

As far as Kidani...i agree with you there.

My wife and I stayed at AKL on cast previews and have stayed there often since..
But when we booked there for march...i took jambo over kidani. And if they had only kidani - i woulda probably have booked old key west.

They tried to maximize the animal viewing with kidani's design...but i think they screwed up with that.
They have always overestimated the desire of customers to look at giraffes and cattle 100 feet away.
It's certainly cool...but just like the zoo...you do it for a minute or two and then move on.

Animal Kingdom lodge has never been a smash hit...falling below their projections. they converted floors to villas to save it.
Kidani was designed doubling down on their mistakes...it is a turn of the century prison layout...they put the pool in the parking lot...its not compact enough.

we stayed there...and again, love animal kingdom lodge....but i don't have a desire to go back to kidani.

I think the SSR mistake was building it too big. They can't seem to fill the rooms, they end up sending them to CRO who ends up giving them away as free upgrades.

I stayed at Kidani and it didn't feel prison like at all. I think you are referring to the end of the resort where they did not put in standard view rooms so all you see is a metal wall. But that is just one small area. I wouldn't call the whole resort "prison like".
