A visit to Disneyland is on my travel bucket list but it is the overhead expense of air fare that is a put-off for me. I come across a lot of budget flight deals but this was a first so thought it is worth sharing here.

One of the android apps Global Call that I use has a week long event https://www.facebook.com/uglobalcall/app_193371724140087 running where one of the participants gets to win round trip air tickets to any destination of choice. Wish there were more events like this so that a chance to win becomes more about deduction than luck.

Which brings me to a long standing question - What is your opinion on having more avenues where one can participate to get free air tickets to places one wants to go?

I don't enter contests, unless it is with a small local company that I know won't be selling my info (local grocery store, school, ...) I get enough junk mail and stupid phone calls as it is.

I was worried about the cost of flying to Disneyland also (from NY), but was shocked to see how affordable it really is! We're going in February, and the most expensive leg of the trip will be $203 each, if I fly at peak time. I've decided to fly home the night before, so it's only $173 each.

Flying to Orlando from here has been around $150 each the last few years, so I think this is a good deal.

I would say - check the low-cost carriers, and play around with cities. We're flying into Vegas, because it is the same distance to the Grand Canyon as Phoenix, and cheaper. Flying out of Long Beach is cheaper than Burbank, but the same as LAX.
