If airlines change your flight times...

We are traveling on Jetblue and my sister is traveling on Delta, same airport, same dates, times a couple of hours apart.

I just had my departure time TO MCO changed by Jetblue. And she received a change on the department time FROM MCO by Delta.

Will they let us change our flights to a different day with no change fee since they changed our times???

A different day? Sometimes they will let you, sometimes not. But if your original flight was very early or very late and you don't want the middle of the day, chance are better they will give you a flight "on the other side" which means the previous night or the next morning.

Call to make a change. But before calling, hand pick alternate flights you would like.

If the flights on the same day that you would like are sold out then they should give you upon your request a flight the previous day or the next day.

Feel free to ask for a supervisor if the first person you talke to says he can't make the change you want.

Typically the change they make must be equal to or greater than 90 minutes difference. Once that happens they will make the change you want free of charge.

Usually they let you change to a different flight the same day, not a different day, but who knows? Call and ask.

When JetBlue changed our flight times in December last year, we were told we could change to a different flight within 24 hours before or 24 hours after our scheduled flight with no charge (even if the new flight we chose cost more). We changed from an afternoon flight to an early morning flight (same day) with no hassles at all. HTH

I don't know that Delta would change her flight TO MCO or JetBlue change your flight FROM MCO. If you're simply trying to get the flights to arrive/depart closer to each other, that should work.

OP here - I thought I would update in case the info can help someone else.

Originally, Jetblue changed my departure time TO MCO, and Delta changed my sister's departure time FROM MCO. Since I originally posted, Delta also changed my sister's departure time TO MCO.

Sooo - we finally called today with great results. I called Jetblue, told them they had made the change to my flight, and asked to be changed to the same flight, but previous day. They didn't bat an eyelash - immediately changed my 3 tickets with no change fee or any other fees. LOVE Jetblue!

My sister called Delta to do the same thing. The first person she talked to said no. I told her to hang up and call back and get a different person. They said yes! So she also got her flight changed to previous day with no fees.

We are very happy - an extra day at Disney - yippee!
