If ABC Commissary & Backlot Express is not good

then how about Catalina Eddie's, Rosie's All-American Cafe, or Toy Story Pizza Planet..

These are all on the CS list for the dining plan, and we were wondering if they were any good?

Anyone have any comments?

We like the new CS in MGM. It's in the back across from the Backlot Tour ride. It was called Studio Catering Co. when it opened last year, but they've changed the name already and I can't remember the new name....something Grill I think. It's really good. Most of the other MGM food places are pretty lacking.

The Studio Catering Co. was very good when we went there in December. Great flat bread and humous dips....but now that they have changed the name to Flatbread Grill, they replaced the flat bread with chile sheese dogs and pulled pork.....go figure.......

We have never had bad meals at Backlot Express. They were not great, but then there are not many CS areas that are. We found it to be as good as any fast food park restaurant and better than some others.

Toy Story Pizza Planet is good and a good value for the DP! We had the personal pizza combo meals which came with a garden salad and we had the Mickey rice krispy treats for dessert! It was definitely more food than we could eat for lunch, but it was all very good. The kids enjoyed the games downstairs after we ate.

I didn't like Backlot when we went a few years back, but sounds like it's changed for the better. I did like Pizza Planet - the Ceasar salad was really good. And Buzz proposed to me outside of it, hehehe

Ate at ABC Commissary last year, everyone was satisfied. I had the fish basket and strawberry parfait, DH had the burger and Haagen-Dazs Vanilla & Almond Bar, DS had the chicken nuggets, and DD had the noodle stir fry (which she thought was ok, she preferred my fish, which was hot and tasty) and strawberry parfait. We enjoyed this meal and would have no problem going back.

I've been wondering the same thing. We always have a difficult time deciding where to eat at MGM, so we are thinking of hopping over to Beaches n Cream.

While I agree that the CS in MGM is lacking, I think taking the time to go all the way over to Beaches & Cream is a little extreme, unless you just really want B&C for its own merits. Backlot Express is not that bad - perfectly decent chicken strips and burgers, and hubby really likes the grilled vegetable sandwich.

Are you kidding me? This was my favorite CS place in WDW last year. How frustrating!

We ate at both ABC and Backlot in Dec and they both were terrible (ABC was really, really gross). The ONLY bad CS we had at any of the parks, our entire 9 day stay. We didn't try Pizza Planet, but I have read on this board that some people like it. We are doing 2 MGM days in Oct. We plan to eat at Sci-Fi for lunch one of the days, and use the CS credits for breakfast that day. The second day we will probably do Brown Derby for cobb salads and kids meals, and use the CS credits for breakfast again. We are afraid of CS in MGM now!!

I tried Toy Story Pizza Planet for the first time in December, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. We tried ABC Commissary last December, and it was terrible. The food was bad, and the restaurant was really dirty.
