If a discount room is cancelled does it go back into inventory?

For my upcoming stay I got one hotel with a discount but my other only rack rate was available. Is it possible if someone booked the discount cancels would I be able to pick up that discounted room?

The room will become available to book again, but not necessarily at a discounted rate. If the discount is still a current offer, then yes, it’s possible, but no one can really say for sure. If the discount has already expired, then no.

I find that if the offer is relatively new, there is a decent chance of picking up the room you want as inventory changes a lot as people cancel and rebook. But if the offer has been around for awhile, or set to expire soon, I’m not so certain those rooms get put back in the discounted pot.

I check and recheck over and over again, haha. I've seen the discounted rooms come and go for the same days I check. I believe the room does go back to the discounted rate. I've cancelled rooms, then checked right away and the discount was there to book again. I've also seen as it gets closer to the date, more discounted rooms can come available (prob as ppl finalize their plans and cancel double bookings etc) so don't give up hope!

That does give me some hope! I check the site so much lol makes me feel a little less crazy
