In December, we had a GREAT cast member at RnRC who had us laughing and joking the entire week whenever we visited the ride. When I returned, I wrote Disney a letter complimenting his service and Disney attitude.
Just yesterday, I went back to RnRC and who did I see but my favorite CM. I asked him if he remembered me from December (I called him "Tiger Bait" every time...he's a Florida fan) and I could see the wheels spinning in his head. I then told him "well, I was very impressed with you and made sure to write Disney a letter for you." His eyes lit up and he said "THAT WAS YOU????? THANKS!!" So, I'm guessing he got a great pat on the back for it.
Needless to say, my friend and I were in line for front car when I told him that. When we finished the ride, a CM came up to us and told us to stand to the side. We thought we were in trouble because we were both holding our cameras on the ride in attempts to video tape it (bad bad). The CM walked back up and said "You guys want to ride again?" and she brought us through a door when my CM was standing there waiting for us to get right back in front of the line! YAY!
So if a CM makes your day, be sure to let Disney know about it! A letter seems to go much further than you think.

we are just back and I wanted to actually thank a few cm who made out trip very special. Almost cried at one point! Who do you write to? and I was wondering should I include all 3 CM in the same letter?

I can speak from experiance that letters ARE appreciated! I worked in a call center a few years ago, and over the 2 years I was there I recieved a few letters from some happy customers. My boss always passed them along and a note was placed in my file for my next review. I loved reading the letters, and kept them to re-read on bad days to cheer me up.

It can help get the person a raise, and always provides a pick-me-up for the employee!

I wrote to this address:
WDW Guest Communications
P.O. Box 10,040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

I included the attraction, date and around what time I was there, in case there was more than one CM by the same first name. I included the entire story of how much he impressed me too.
Personally, I would send each CM letter separately.

My DD is a CM at WDW--specifically in MK Entertainment--so I know for a fact just how important these letters can be. Complimentary letters are definitely acknowledged and greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Sometimes copies of the letters are posted in specific places in the tunnels/break rooms. Occasionally a letter appears in the CM ''newsletter''. The CM's definitely are notified when a letter arrives regarding their guest interaction. Copies of the letters are frequently put in their files. The CM's are always thrilled when they receive compliments. It is their Magical Moment!!! When you write, be sure to tell the date, time and place of your good experience. Also, if you know the CM's name, include that. If your great experience was with a ''character''--either 'face' or 'fur'--give all the details you can so that the CM can be identified. For example--say something like"I had a wonderful experience with Ariel in the Grotto on Monday June 7 at 1:15pm. " Including the time can be very important because the characters do rotate and you will want the correct CM to get your message. If you have a picture of the interaction, include a copy--that will definitely help. Believe me, WDW WILL figure out who the CM is--so don't hesitate to write.

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to write and compliment theCM's. They all try very hard to make Magical Moments for everyone.

Thanks so much for relaying this information. I am writing a letter right now. I was on the phone the other day just trying to find out how late and where I could get my AP's so that I have them all ready for the next morning. Well, after talking to several people, basically getting a kind of pleasant Disney run-around, I did end up at the Guest Services in DD next to the big Disney store. I don't remember the young man's name, but I will write the letter all the same to post there "in general". He was so pleasant, helpful and just darn cute, and of course, I was to have a wonderfully magical day. I actually got off the phone smiling and laughing, and that's after 1/2 hour of "run around!!!!". He also answered my question and got to the bottom of the matter. Well, anyway, thanks, I hope it gets his way.

This is true in every business but some of CM's at Dinsey can just make your trip! IIRC Town Hall at MK has comment cards as well as the address listed above.

I had a rough first night at the Dolphin last year and the front desk clerk (not a CM I guess but could be!) went out of her way to help us and made our trip at the Dolphin the best ever. Man did she have patience, kindness and some pixie dust. I wrote a letter and I hope she gets the credit she deserves. Anyone going to the Dolphin say hi to Emma for me.

I write letters after EVERY visit complimenting those CMs who make our stays such a wonderful experience.

A couple of years ago, we were "published". Our letter appeared in the CM Newsletter they receive. While I never intended to draw attention to us (in fact, didn't even know there was such a publication), what a thrill to have the CMs we mentioned recognized in such a big way! Given the sheer number of CMs in the park, it must make them feel great to be mentioned in the Newsletter as well! My letter was published verbatim and the CMs mentioned and given special congrats from Al Weiss for the terrific job they are doing. Frankly, I hope they received more than just a "pat on the back", I hope our letters turn into more $$ in their paychecks OR some other special reward.

So often we hear the negative, I love to recognize the positive! I do encourage everyone to write and give these hardworking men and women their just praise. It's a pretty thankless job most of the time and without them, our visits would be so much less.

I haven't written a letter before, but I sure will next time. My DD and I do give out WWWD pins. It is a great way to acknowledge a CM right on the spot. My DD has had a few magical moments presenting the pin.

I have heard of these, but was wondering where you can get them? I would love to be able to hand some out my next trip!

Thanks,
Korey

We unfortuneatley have had a different experiences with letter writing...we have had some outstanding experiences with many CM's and a number of years ago we wrote a few letters. Even had the offices that recieved reply that they had got the letter and they would pass on the compliements...returning to WDW about 6ms later neither of the cast members had been told about the letters...we then wrote another series of letters and followed up with the CM's on our next visit...once again no follow up....

This time we took matters into our own hands...and now we personally thank the CM and give them one of our limited addition BADSHOE.COM pins....they are thrilled and boy do they remember us the next time...

I'm glad to hear that some times the compliments do make it back to the CM's...

Here is the website for the WWWD pins--

Not all the CM's know about these pins so sometimes you have to give a little explanation. The CM's are always thrilled to receive positive feedback from the guests.

I'm so sorry to hear that your letters didn't reach the proper CM's. :( :( :( Our DD has received letters, photos, coloring pages etc which have been mailed from guests--so I know that an effort is made. She was one of the lucky ones to have a guest letter about her in the cast newsletter--a REAL thrill! You had an interesting solution and it must have been nice to see the CM's reaction.

If you check the WWWD site, please be sure to note that you receive 3 pins for $16. It can be a little confusing and some think it is $16 per pin. I had an order mixed up and they were so prompt to fix and included a little extra! This will be our 3rd trip using them. They do come on a little card that you can include a note and then when you get home from your trip you can post them on the WWWD website. Be sure to write down their names!

I agree ...write those letters. I do after every visit. We've met so many CMs that go out of their way to make our trips magical. They deserve some recognition.

Most of us spend so much time planning our trip...the least we can do is spare alittle time to tell others about those who make our trip "magical".

Oh yes, CMs love to get letters from guests! I've gotten a handful of guest service fanatic cards from managers for doing well, but I hope to get an actual letter one day. It would mean so much more to me!

Once when I was "with" Suzy Mouse at 1900 Park Fare, one of the families I visited gave her princess fruitsnacks with a postcard that said "To Our Friend, the cast member, Suzy, from the Lombardi Princesses. Thank you for making our Disney Vacation Magical!" It has a picture of two adorable little girls dressed in princess costomes. I keep it on my fridge. I was hoping to track down the Lombardi family online and send them a note from Suzy but no luck.

I'm awaiting the day a kid gives my character his or her address. They will receive a special note from their Disney friend!

I love this thread!

I have never written a letter, but I copied down the address so that I can after this trip. Every trip, we have a couple of CM's that really make the trip extra-special for us. I print out cast member appreciation cards that were made by an internet friend of mine (thanks, Tagrel!) and hand those out when a CM does something special for us. They're always so appreciative that we acknowledge their hard work. In addition to the cards, I want to send some letters this time so that, hopefully, they'll be rewarded for the extra effort they put into making our WDW visits magical! :D
