IDs?

We are planning a trip to Paris and will include 3 days at DLP. We had a question about ID cards. I read somewhere that we will need to show IDs for the children, but I reallly do not want to have to carry our passports with us when I can safely leave them in Paris. Do we need to have them, even for our son who is 2? We will be going while there is the 12 and under package deal. Thanks!

I've NEVER shown id's for anyone - only ever written my passport number on the booking in form (but never shown my actual passport) so just take yours?

as far as I'm aware you don't need to show ID for any of your party unless you are

a- buying annual passports

b- using shareholder discount - as you may be asked for photo ID when using the shareholders discount card.

If you're staying onsite, you will be asked for your passport number on check-n - but only yours, as lead name on the booking, no-one elses. You don't need to show your passport to anyone, you can just write it down in advance for the check-in form.

Technically you should have your passports with you at all times while on foreign soil.

When we checked into the hotel I was asked to write my passport number on the form. If you're just going as a day visitor you won't be asked about this. The only exception I can think of would be if your kids are if a certain age where you may be asked to prove their age.

I used my shareholders card a lot this week and the only place u was asked for ID was in Salon Mickey, and I used my photo driving licence as I like to keep my passport locked safely away.

Foreigners who go to the US need to carry their passports at all time as it is the document proving that they are legally visiting the US.

But in the Schengen Zone, we don't need such things.

Long story short, that PP thought we were talking about IDs in the USA, not in France.

Here in Holland you can be fined for not having your i.d on you at all times. Not neccessarily a passport, could be drivers license or id card, but you are legally obligated to carry something at all times.

we have been asked to show DS passport in the past - I think when his age bordered on the age when kids have to pay (according to the offer at the time) but apart from that only ever been asked for passport numbers.

Partially correct. I did realize we were talking about France, but I know that as an American citizen I'm supposed to carry my passport at all times in another country, just like addverbaan said. So while Schengen Zone residents may not have to carry a passport, just some form of photo ID, the rest of us still need to carry a passport.

Thanks! We are scandinavian citizens so i know passports are not required and the adults will have photo ids, but it was more the question of whether or not I will have to prove that my little one is under 3 and thus carry his passport or would they accept our eu blue health insurance cards if they ask. I really do not like carrying too much in the parks and really do not want to leave our passports in the hotel. I have never had to show id for the kids in Florida but I heard that it is different in Paris.

I have been to DLP 20+ times each year since DS was 2. I never had any CM question his age at the turnstiles, let alone have to show ID. Even when he didn't have an AP and entered free of charge.

If it was me and I didn't want to carry the passport itself I would take a photocopy of the passport and also birth certificate just to be safe. I have definitely heard of under threes being asked for proof of age in the buffet restaurants.
