IDK if 2 days is enough?!?!

We are taking our 2 children (ages 5 and 1) to California 10/12-10/18. We plan to stay with a friend Sat the 12th in LA and then head up to Anaheim on Sunday the 13th to check into our hotel and maybe, *hopefully* have our only chance at fireworks. Would really really love for my son to see real Disney Fireworks but I realize this may not be in the cards for us.

We are meeting other friends at Disneyland on Tuesday the 15th, so we thought we would do California Adventure on Monday the 14th. Monday is Columbus Day and based on last years hours I think the park is open longer that day.

Like I said, Tuesday we will be with 2 other families. This has its advantages as it might allow us parents to be able to ride together and trade off watching the kids on the rides they can't do, however it also has its disadvantages as we all may have different priorities for the day. The other families do not have a school-aged child, they only have babies. Tuesday is a non-negotiable day as it is the only day the other 2 families can do... However we are flexible... We could do CA before or after our day at Disney.

This leads me to my conundrum... To add another day or possibly 2. I'm worried that 2 days really isn't enough, especially considering 1 of the days may not be as "jam packed" as we would usually do seeing we will be with a larger group. If we add on Sunday and/or Thursday we would need 1 extra hotel night and of course the remainder in ticket costs. The Orbitz deal is what has me considering this possible change. I think the difference in costs is about $500 to add 2 more days in the park (1 additional night in a hotel).

Of course money is a huge concern, but not getting to ride everything is a major concern too. Can I really even hope to feel satisfied with 2 days? Ughhhhhhh. Thank you for letting me worry "out loud."

Can you hope to feel satisfied with two days? Yes

Can you ride "everything" in two days, Columbus weekend with another family?
Probably not.

It depends on what your goal is. If you have the time and won't miss the money, why not?

Get a two day park hopper. Spend Monday morning at DCA. Visit Carsland, Toy Story Mania, Monsters Inc, and Little Mermaid for sure. Maybe get Fast Passes for Soarin for you and your husband. Maybe Tower of Terror and Screamin if those are must for you. Then head over to DL and ride whatever you can. Last year on Columbus Day they had Fantasmic and fireworks. Tuesday is a Halloween party and DL will probably close at six. You can then head back over to DCA for more rides and World of Color.

Goooood catch about a Halloween party! Yes, OP, Disneyland closes early on HP nights. All the more reason, in my opinion, to extend by at least a day.

Agree with the above posters that if an extra day or two won't blow the budget, go ahead and add them. With really young kids, your schedule could end up being quite different than you planned. Extra day/s would give you much more flexibility and give your kids more options (e.g. more breaks, longer naps, swimming?, etc.).

I'd say if it was just your family, 2 days would probably be ok. I take my son (4) once or twice a year and for the two of us, 2 full days and one 1/2 day at Disney is plenty and we manage to ride everything.

That being said going on a holiday and then travelling with others... I would add another day. When we went this past February we travelled with friends and family and though there were only 6 of us total (3 being preschoolers) 4 nights (3 full and one 1/2 day) in the park was a must.

We are going to spring for the Orbitz 3 day hoppers with the 4th day. You guys convinced us. Thanks for your help guys!
