Identifing Diser`s

On our last trip I had a green HD mickey head on my backpack. Someone asked if it was for the DIS and I said yes. It was kristatx, towncrier and two other women (sorry, forget their names.)

The wierd part was - in September of 2004, at Millionare, the girl in the hot seat had a DIS pin on so after the show I went up to her and a guy she was with and it was the same kristatx and towncrier!

They are the only people I have ever met because of my green mickey head and I met them twice!

Is that wierd or what?

We went last October and I sewed a large lime green Mickey Head with my screen name and DISboards on it. We met 7 different family on our 9 day trip. I must admit that I approached all but one family. I met a couple from England ( he was wearing a DIS lime green fanny pack), I met SteamboatMarti and MGKKgdm in the security line going into MNSSHP. Marti saw my backpack and spoke to me. She was wearing a T-shirt from the T-shirt design thread. We met a couple of different families that same night in the crystal palace at dinner. One had a Mickey head displayed and the other family was wearing T-shirts that I recognized from the design thread. Another woman sat next to me at the Tomorrowland Speedway. We both had sleeping kids. She had something on that I recognized at DIS. We had several Sign/emblems in our window at POP and a couple with their baby were walking around looking for DIS windows so we chatted for a while. I'm sure their were more, but I can't remember off the top of my head and I am horrible with names. It is definately helpful to include you screenname and DISboards on whatever you display. That takes away all of the confusion. My dh thought I was crazy thinking that we would meet people, but he changed his tune after the first couple of days. So wear your DIS colors/emblems proudly and don't be afraid to say hello.

with help of all the great people on the boards I surprised my DH with a limo when we went for our 25th anniversary in 2004.

Although we didnt have green on I mentioned that if DIS'ers saw a limo driver with a sign that said "happy 25th anniversry" to come say hello--(this of course was at the airport though)

but no one did :confused3 I thought maybe with all the flight coming in oh well maybe next time--

next time though through an exchange on these boards at Christmas my "pal" made me a button in lime green of course with my DIS name (dznypal) its neat so in Aug and anyones sees my button please say hello

I had a t-shirt made that says "Disboards, The Happiest Place On The Net" with my user name underneath. So far no one has approached me although I did get the chance to tell someone about the Dis and they were going to check it out when they got home.

Last October my DH and I wore matching shirts everyday. They had our names on them. And all but one set was lime green. :rotfl2: I still can't believe I got him to wear them.
I also have a DIS lanyard that I got from the DIS store and I used it as a ribbon on my backpack. On the days that I wore my fannypack I had a DIS button on it.
In line for a Dole Whip (yum) I was approached by a DIS'er. We spoke for a while. It was neat! I also got approached on the Monorail to Epcot by a DIS'er. I approached many people wearing lime green, but they just looked at me like I was crazy! :lmao: I need to look more closely for the Mickey heads. We will be doing the same thing this October and I hope to meet some more great DIS'ers!

Does anyone know where I can buy any DISboard merchandise? I would love to have shirts made up.

We will have a stroller with us this year and I was thinking about making a lime green sign to hang from the handle (twofold - to identify myself to other DIS'ers and to identify my stroller!) - but since my user name is TravelinGAL and my baby is a boy...well...I'm not sure I want to hang it from the stroller now... :p

Maybe I'll just put some DISboards comment on it...

p/s - check out the tag Tag Fairy gave me ... that was from over 2 years ago - my last trip before DS was conceived.

I found it HERE, but none of the images show up and when I called the toll free number listed they said "I don't belive they are taking any more orders." ODD! Why not pull the store completly then?

Ahhh yes...Kristatx and Towncrier are huge Millionaire fans....when were you there when you saw them last? I was hanging with them a lot in late Nov/early Dec.

WOW ,plenty wearing green ,but maybe need to be more forward , and ask if you see someone with lime green.
I will be there in July 5th and unfortunatley do not have a home depot hear in the UK, so will just wear some sort of ribbon either on wrist or maybe tie it on to my sunglasses, probably get some looks ,but if anyones there and sees some weirdo with Lime green ribbon tied to his glasses please say hello

PM Me, We'll be there at the same time, maybe I could mail you a mickey or two so I know there will be someone to look for ...
OT:Where in UK? Spent 3 yrs at RAF Mildenhal as a kid...beautiful countryside...

Why Lime Green? Who owns anything lime green. My wife says I'd fit in better during Gay days like that.

Can't we have like a shirt or a special pair of sunglasses.

Oh, stroke of genius, lime green croakie for my shades. I'm good.

We had a Lime Green Mickey attached on our backpack (made from the home depot paint chips)- no one said a thing to us. We only saw one other person with these, and it was in the airport going home- too much of a rush to say anything.

Enjoying these posts...I'm sure most of you are aware that there are "organized" meets @ WDW ranging from Mousefest, AllEars, Pal Mickey group, pin trading and Tagrel to name a few.

Would be nice to see a thread for informal, weekly DIS meets in the parks. Who's going soon & volunteering to organize the first one?:goodvibes

why is the color lime green? :confused3

As I remember it, someone started the "wear green" thing around the time I first began visiting this board in 2000. I'm not sure, but I always thought the lime green was for "Tinkerbell."

At the time, lime green was not a fasionable color and anyone wearing lime green stood out. People were always asking the question "Does anyone know where I can find lime green ribbon? I've looked everywhere and can't find it."

On this trip, I'm going to laminate a HD lime green mickey head and tie it to my backpack and all my luggage. No need to tell DH why, he'll just assume I'm trying to make our bags standout. pirate: (He just doesn't "get" my obsession with the Dis boards!)

If anyone is interested in making your own DIS or just Disney shirts there is a forum that will help you with that. The link is:

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

There lots of how to information and tons of designs that the Designers will personalize for you. It is all free thanks to some very generous DISers that have given a whole lot of time and talent to help us all out.

I had my Home Depot Mickey heads. I posted a picture of them before we left. I had it on my backpack. We were in the parks January 24-26, and Downtown Disney on the 27th. No one ever asked me anything though.
I was actually surprised DH didn't ask me about it though. He even carried the backpack sometimes. I knew there would be eye rolling if he ever asked.lol

I'll be there March 22-29, and I'll be sure to have a lime green ribbon on my backpack. I'll go up to anyone with a ribbon or a Mickey head from Home Depot, but a piece of clothing is too riskey for me. Someone may just like the color. Hope to see someone there!!

End of Nov beginning of Dec last year DH and I were at WDW for 10 nights. I asked a few people if they were DISers and just got strange looks. One woman in line behind us at Epcot was talking to her friends about how much she had learned on-line about WDW, that there were wonderful boards you could go to. So I turned around and asked her if she was a member of the DIS board... she looked at me like I was crazy. Said she didn't know what I was talking about, she only went to big sites about Disney. :rotfl:

When we were on our Segway tour I asked (at my DH's urging) the room during training if there were any other DISers, but no one said anything. SO..... imagine my surprise when I got home and back on the board to see a picture of 3 people that looked like people on the same Segway tour we were!!! I pm'd Foxfire and it turned out that it was them! They didn't hear me ask the question. And what is really strange she took a picture that DH and I were in, and I had a movie that she and her family were in!

I have a dis pin lanyard.

I saw someone once with a Dis pin on their back pack, but I just couldnt bring myself to go running up behind her, calling,"Hey fellow Disser!" or "Hey Im a disser too."
