Ideas to surprise SO with resort change?

I just had a sudden AKL urge so I called to check how much it would be to change my POR reservation to the AKL for May. It's our favorite resort but we haven't stayed in a few years. Anyway, it was less than $200 to switch over for the 5 nights (AP rates) so I changed us over. I'm horrible at keeping secrets but want to surprise him somehow with the switch.

I know when the ME tickets come it will say AKL so if I don't tell him before we leave I'll have to hide that somehow. Any ideas? Trying to decide if I should spill before we get to the MCO airport or tell him before? I'm sure I'm putting way too much thought into this.

I a surprise!!!! I would hide the tickets until we got to the ME bus and tell him you hope they take you to the AKL. When he asks why, then tell him. If he loves AKL, he will love that you wanted to surprise him with it!!!

I would probably try to hide it as long as possible. I thought about upgrading our last trip and not telling my famly until we were on ME. I think it would be a wonderful suprise! Wish my DH would do it for me!

Well, the ME tickets will say AKL, but you can TRY to pass that off as "Oh, I think they mean AKL resort area..." They do the ME buses by "area" and the AKL resort area doesn't include POR, but maybe your DH won't catch on.

I'm no help but I sure do hope you get to surprise SO.

I have made umpteen upgrades to our trip and I can't keep it a secret to save my life. I even said that to DH last night. I just want to give them one unexpected magical thing with this trip but I'm running out of ideas and I'll be broke for the rest of my life if I keep this up

Surprises are nice, but I also enjoy the excitement I feel before I go. So while you'd be giving him a great surprise when you get down there, he'll be deprived of being able to look forward to such a great hotel, or sharing the excitement you have right now. I say let him enjoy it ahead of time. It'll still be special when you get there.

But you can still tell him in a way to make it a surprise.. Maybe make a dish that they serve at Boma or Jiko, and tell him over dinner? Or you can do a fake out.. tell him something happened and you had to change reservations, and just when he gets worried, spring the good news on him. I've never done a surprise, so I doubt these are any good. :>

When the Magical Express Tickets come and if he notices they say AKL, tell him that you'll call and have it straightened out. Then tell him that you called and Disney said it will be noted that you need to go to Riverside and not Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you get off the plane, tell your SO that you need to check to make sure this was taken care of. Then approach the ME representative at the airport and say that you need him/her to pretend to talk to you for a minute or two. Then, go back to your SO and say that you will need to get on the Animal Kingdom bus first and they will have a taxi waiting there to take you to Riverside. Once you get to the Lodge, tell your SO that you have to check at the front desk for the taxi. Then check in. Or tell your SO whenever you are about ready to burst.
