I am going to visit my DD who is a WDW CM. She really does not want to go to parks on her days off. I will be there for 3 1/2 days in June. We are going to stay at the Swan since I don;t fancy sleeping on an air mattress in the apartment she shares with 3 other kids. We are dining at Boma the first night and having tea at the Grand Floridian the next day. We plan to have breakfast at First Watch over in Doctor Phillips because it was awesome last time and we will probably go to Celebration one day. Is there anyplace relatively close to Orlando that is worth a day trip? We drove to Siesta Key and St Armand last time.

Celebration is a great place. Love all the little shops. You could rent a Segway over there and tour around the area.

Why not do a beach trip?

Who said you need to leave Disney to have fun. Rent a bike and ride for VWL to FW and visit with the horses. Rent some sea races and ride around on Baylake

I'm thinking about a beach trip but to be honest I think I'm too fat to be comfy in a swimsuit on a beach.
I forgot about the boats. We could do that for an hour or two.
She did the Segway tour. It looks terrifying to me. I'm not a sporty person.
The heat in June is going to be bad. I am trying to think of Mother-daughter stuff we can do to catch up. I checked the prices for Discovery cove since it will be just us not the whole family but it is wicked pricey! Maybe we will just wing it.

When I visit my daughter we do things we liked to do at home. So a trip to the FL Mall or outlets, maybe a movie at DTD or sometimes we like to go over Citywalk and do lunch at Margaritaville and then a movie there.

I like Celebration too for a visit and we go through there occasionally too.

We also share a couple of hobbies (cross stitch and scrapbooking) so we found local small shops to visit.

We did Margaritaville in CT last yr. She has a friend who works in Universal and I would love to see the Harry Potter stuff but she is not into it and it may be too hot in June. We usually end up shopping and going out for meals no matter where we go. I was checking out the new bowling alley at DTD. She said she has never gone since it is pricey so that may be an option. It';s too bad they got rid of the adventurer's club because we used to go there.

Who said you need a swim suit to go to the beach. A t-shirt and shorts are fine. I love going to HoneyMoon Island on the Gulf to look for sea shells and relax on the beach. You can rent chairs and umbrella. And in June you will find the temps on the beach to be about 10 degrees cooler than in Orlando.

That beach is nice. Has nice bathroom/shower area. A café to get a bit to eat.

My daughter has been - I think CMs get a pretty good discount later in the evening and she enjoyed it. I have also heard from others the food is pretty decent there and apparently you can just eat there if you want and there is a terrace overlooking DTD. I want to try that too sometime.

Thanks! I never heard about this place. :beach:

It's about an hour and a half to St. Petersburg, which has a lovely beach. I'm going to go over to go to the Salvador Dali Museum and to see the Chihuly glass exhibit, and the old town area one day on my next trip. There are some nice museums up in Orlando proper (Winter Garden?) also -- inside and cool.
