Current work at the Fort

Well I'll be seeing the eyesore in person again in a little over a month, when I get back to the Fort. Last Fort stay was February, so got to see it then but still hoped the unfinished concrete would be paneled or painted dark or something.

I'll try to look at the silver lining and hope the lakefront dining option has great food there, as it will give Forters a table-serve option to walk to since we lost table service at Trail's End. I still use the new Trail's End and the food's OK - but I miss the old buffet slash table service days (when the old P&J's covered quick-serve and takeout stuff).

Having another dining option (table service and maybe quick service?) within easy walking distance from the Fort would be a positive (for the Fort, not the eyesore). I absolutely agree with you, @zackiedawg .

Right now it's not a big difficulty to ride the bus to Wilderness Lodge and opt for their dining options (Geyser Point #1). But more variety/options can't but help.

The newest updated photo reveals River Country water fun .
The lazy river and a slide with 3 curves is going to make this DVC Resort very popular. It does look massive no hiding behind those comments .
If you drive on the back side of property you are going to be quite surprised at all the new roads and construction going on to prepare for the Opening .and future attractions..
I will be staying at the Fort in August .
Looking forward to everything but Summer heat .
I’ll try to post some pics !

I would love to see them reopen the walking path between the Settlement area and Wilderness Lodge.
From the satellite images and the artist's renderings, There will be a paved path from the A-frame cabins on the beach, right to the pool/lazy river and new dock. Past there it will go over to the A-frames on the other side of the resort. That takes you most of the way to WL. I don't think there will be much left where the old path went.

Here's the latest Google Earth image. Tis is from may 2025, so almost a year ago. The green line is roughly the old path to WL. The blue Vs are the new A-frames. Between the cabins at WL and the new ones, there isn't much left. I suspect they will connect to WL eventually, so we can walk through the parking lots to the little trail... hopefully.

I wonder if the new lazy river will be called "River Country". It sits roughly where RC was.

Purple arrow is the new lazy river. Red arrow is roughly where River Country was.

The old paved walking/exercise trail was repaved and is ready for use. Up behind the new TCD Barn, the pavement stopped just short of the curb as we rode by it on a bus to WL (far side of white fence).

And from the service road that comes down from 2000 and Creekside Meadow, the newly paved trail was blocked off with green barriers.

I assume the eyesore's parking lot and landscaping will have to be finished before they connect the former trail into the new time share. Down on the WL end the small loop is paved as well but signs prevent guests from using the trail.

I think/predict the exercise/walking trail will reopen when the eyesore is finished for occupancy (or at least when they start selling points for it a few weeks before. But a defined and unpaved trail along the edge of Bay Lake to the WL cabin area would be sweet as well. It would be very scenic.
