My husband and I just booked our next Disney trip for January 2014. Since I am a Disney nut, I am already planning and am just plain excited! We have decided to not tell our 3 year old daughter (this will be her first trip!) that we are going until the morning we leave for our trip, but I would like your ideas on how to make the reveal fun and creative! I also have a 14 year old son, but he helped us plan the trip, but if you have any ideas for him to make it even more fun, let me have them! Thanks!

I had this question as well! A lot of people that responded said to tell my DD about the trip since it will be her first trip as well. It will help prepare her so she has a general idea of what to expect. They said to save the surprise for her second trip because her first one she doesn't know what ALL WDW has in store for her. Her second trip would be a better one to surprise her with because she will talking about going back the moment you leave. So when you surprise her and tell her your going the 2nd time you are more likely to get a better response.

Personally for a first trip at 3 I would tell her. I would show her you tube videos or rides and Main St USA, start watching Disney movies of characters that she will see in the parks, shopping for clothes for the trip (Disney store t shirts).

I surprised my kids for our 2011 trip. I woke up them up and just sprung it on them. They were THRILLED. I think DD would have been a bit confused or non caring had I surprised her for a first trip at 3 because she didn't know everything Disney had to offer.

Check out YouTube videos. Do a search for "walt disney world trip telling kids" and you'll see some neat ways other parents have told their kids.

For fun you could also check out "disney surprise gone wrong" for some hilarious videos.
