My daughter (10 yrs old) and I have been to Disney World about once a year for the last 6 years. She has always known and helped with the plans and anticipation but has also always wanted to be surprised with a trip. This year we are going just before Thanksgiving but she has no idea. I want to tell her after I pick her up from school (mid-day) on the way to the airport. We will be going to MVMCP the day after we arrive so I thought about creating a party invitation for her to read in the car but would love any other ideas that someone has used to break the news. Thanks!

I think your idea is a good one:thumbsup2Is there any way you could get something Halloweeny at a Disney Store and have it wrapped with the Halloween invitation? Also, I'd be sure and have the car parked when you do it so you can enjoy her reaction without worrying about driving.

Is she to old for pin trading? We are surprising DD6 with a trip in early December. I purchased 20 trading pins on ebay for $23.00 and she will get these as a gift along with a sweatshirt from disigns to surprise her. On our trip last year she LOVED pin trading and I didn't think that she would want to trade the pins she came home with since she worked so hard to get the ones that she wanted, so the new ones will work great. They were also a great steal!! Have you ever made your own shirts for the trip? There are some wonderful designs here on the boards and they are easy to make. You could pick her up wearing a matching sweatshirt to the one you are going to give her. It could say something like "We are on our way" and have a picture of WDW and some characters. That would be very cute!!!!!

thanks for the ideas! Hadn't thought about not being able to enjoy her reaction if I'm driving. I'll have to make the big presentation (whatever it is) in the car. Love the t-shirt idea! Might actually be able to work something out like that. She's not really into the trading pins - likes to keep every pin we get - even the ones in grab bags! :confused3 I'd still love to hear other ideas. Planning is half the fun for me - especially since I can't share the planning part with her this time.
