I am an unemployed Computer person and am looking for ideas for things to sell out of my house to make extra $$$. If anyone knows of a good home based business idea or product that is easy to make and sell. I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

I love my job! I work when I want to, my kids get lots of really nice books for free, I make good money, and it is fun! I am an Educational Consultant for Usborne Books at Home. I average about $100. per show and spend 2-3 hours at each show. You can do as many or as few shows per week as you would like. The money really helps to feed my Disney appetite! Usborne is a fairly new company so the market is not saturated like it is with so many home party type companies, and people are always buying books for their kids/grandkids! It is less than $100 for your start up kit and there are no monthly quotas, no inventory to buy etc. The best part is that your kids get to keep and enjoy the books! If you would like to check it out just go to www.ubah.com/N1466 and click on "income opportunities" near the top of the page.

If you are good with PCs or MACs there are small companies that will provide tech support/handholding to homes and small businesses. This would include such things as setting up the computer, setting up a network, providing instruction, etc. You might look for one of them.

Do people really fall for this??Its from a job site:

high – paid part time job.
Young fast tracking firm is looking for helpers across America. We have offices all around Europe and South America. We expand staff of employees in the USA. We glad to inform you that you got a chance to get highly paid part – time work.
We are looking for honest and communicative people to work from your own home!!
This is not a sales gimmick requiring you to pay setup fees or sign up to a mailing list. This is a business requiring only limited amounts of your time.
You will need no money to start!
Spaces are limited so act now for this great intuitive job offer.
We require people from USA.
Requirements:
- Honesty
- Computer with e-mail;
- USA resident;
- Adult people only (we cannot hire people who don’t reach the adult edge);
- Bank account;
- 2-3 hours free during the week (mainly in the evening / non-business hours) for communication;
- Minimal experience and knowledge for work with the bank and with some payment services.

Persons who will be accepted for this job will follow these simple instructions:
1. Receive the correspondence and payments from our company to his/her residential address;
2. Report to our manager (every candidate will be included in manager’s lists)
3. Cash this payment.
4. Transfer them to our customer's accounts.

For example if you receive the Money of $5000 your part will be 8 %( 400USD).

Put an add in the personal column..call yourself a computer opps fixer, and go out on calls fixing what the rest of us mess up..our computers. Want to stay home? Have a carry-in service.

I would suggest Big Yellow Box....it is a new (just over a year old) home based kid friendly craft home show from Crayola. I am a horrible sales person or I would do it myself....in Colorado there are 5 or so people who are selling....

The "ingredients" for a craft are all included in a big yellow box...hence the name....my friend is enjoying the opportunity...and I am enjoying buying out the catalog :rotfl:

Okay, I admire you all who can get people to host parties and whatnot, but it is not something I feel comfortable doing. Is there a rule saying I can't set up at flea markets, church craft shows or garage sales? I think if I did two a month or so, I live in a big metro and could find events all year round to set up at.

The books look interesting to sell, I would just rather sell without having to ask friends to host parties.

Of course! Usborne is definately NOT just limited to home shows. There are several ways to market them, booths as you had mentioned, direct sales, school and library sales, fundraisers etc. YOU decide what you would like to do. :)

There are a ton of different ways to sell Usborne! The only thing you can't do is sell to a retail store. Usborne has it's own retail division. Definitely check into the free startup kit they are offering right now. it's a fabulous deal and you can make as much $$ as you want. I've done tons of craft fairs/home party fairs and book fairs over my years with UBAH. There are plenty of consultants who never do homeshows. You can be one of them! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or check my website, it has lots of info.
