Hi, I am looking for ideas for an easter egg hunt at church. Me and another lady from church are working on putting this together (and will be paying for this, so that is why i say on a budget) We had already thought about an cake walk game but instead of a cake would have small baskets with cookies and candy to win. Help with any ideas would be helpful. Thanks:love:

Our church has an Easter egg hunt every year. We ask the congregation for donations of platic eggs and individually wrapped candy to put in the eggs. We get a lot of neighborhood kids (part of our outreach program). As a side note, we have to bring several plastic grocery bags. I am amazed at the number of kids that show up for an Easter egg hunt empty handed (no basket to put them in).

To do away with the basket problem last year at our church Easter Egg hunt, we had the small lunch sacks, and before the hunt the kids decorated them with paper cut out shapes. It worked GREAT!

We also ask the congregation for donations of plastic eggs and wrapped candy and we always end up with more than enough! In previous years we have handed out white paper bags for the kids to collect eggs in. We glued a copy of the JellyBean Prayer onto the outside and also placed a small bag of jellybeans inside to go along with it. We also usually hide foil wrapped eggs that will be used after the hunt to tell the "Easter story". Inside each foil egg is a symbol of one part of the story (ex. - nail, stone, empty egg...) We open these together as a group and discuss what each symbol represents. It's a wonderful ministry and outreach and the kids have a lot of fun!!! Good Luck with your plans! :goodvibes

My GS troop did one for their Bronze Award and we got some get deals on Valentine's Day things. Probably too late for that. We got candy that would last a while and for prizes we got stuffed animals with just red bows and exchanged them for spring bows.

Our old playgroup asked each family to bring one dozen filled eggs per child. The eggs were then all put out for the hunt. Each child was then allowed to pick up one dozen eggs. It worked great... no one was out any more money than anyone else and all of the kids got about the same amount of "stuff".

Some years, one of the members would get one or two big prizes that you would get if you found a special egg (with a message inside). Usually, the big prize was a big stuffed bunny ($10 from Big Lots) or an Easter Basket.
