Thought this will be the perfect place to get ideas. For those who let the Disney magic go beyond WDW and into your home :goodvibes :
We just moved a couple of months ago and now our kids (DD4, DD3, DS10mo.) have a playroom. It's the only room we don't know how to decorate...so, after all we have finally decided it HAS to be Disney-ized. Of course, the next issue is: How do you get to please a Princess-holic (DD4) with a Mickey-holic (DD3) and a baby boy who doesn't really care now but will sooner than I expect (DS 10mo) - all in the same room??... Anyone with a room like this?
After reading one thread on this board, I thought about taking maybe a map from the parks on our next trip and frame it to use it on our wall...any other ideas?
Thanks ....

you could do two walls princess and two mickey. Home Depot has a huge selection of disney stuff you can order. blinds, doors, disney paint with stencils, etc. The doors and blinds were a hit with my kids, however, very pricey.

I have two posters - one of the MK and one of Mickey and Minnie that I got from a Travel Agency. I was putting together a party at a nursing home I worked at about traveling and we called and asked for any extra travel posters that they had and they were happy to give me extras. We had all sorts of great posters from all differnt exotic places and also from Disney. i kept these 2 from disney for when I had my Disney playroom but i have yet to make a Disney playroom. Call your travel agencies and you can frame the big travel posters of Disney for the walls. Home Depot also has some pretty cool industrial carpet with funky shapes and colors - very disney like! Good luck. If you do make a Disney playroom please post pics- we would all love to see!

Here are a couple of ideas.

1) Paint the walls bright Disney colors. Then add pictures, posters, etc. of Disney characters. Connect with "movie reel" between Disney stuff. Kind of like where you meet Mickey in MGM.

2) Pick a gender neutral movie and decorate the entire room in it. My sister did murals of Jungle Book in her playroom. I've seen model homes with Lion King. The Incrediables would be good two.

3) Paint a big Cinderella Castle on one wall. Add princesses and main Disney characters (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc). On another wall add murals of Disney attractions. Do one wall in a solid color and add posters and lithagraphs, seriacells, etcs. This is my playroom. I'm not artistic. I photocopied from a coloring book onto transparencies and then used the machine on the walls to trace. Then just colored in with tempura paint.

And, remember, those kids will outgrow that playroom so you want to consider the price of the special order doors and blinds. If on a budget, it might not be worth it--or if you might sell within the next 5 years. However, they are super cute and might be worth it.

I did our playroom in Disney too. It is for my daycare kids, and they love it! I bought packs of those wall stickers (most of which I found on Ebay) , and did each wall in one theme. We have one wall of each Winnie the Pooh, The little Mermaid, Lion King, Dalmations, and 2 walls for Mickey and Friends. It turned out really cute, and nothing is permanent if I decide to change the theme (which I won't) or if I stop doing home daycare.

DW did up DD's playroom in a 101/102 Dalmatians theme. We printed pictures from the computer and she framed several of them together in a 24x36 poster frame. She found dalmatian print fabric at the fabric store and made some drapes for the window. Best of all -- she took a dog paw print stamp :dog2: and stamped a trail of dog paws :pug: along the tile floor, up the wall, along the ceiling :dog: and back down the wall. We are now selling the house and the couple purchasing our home think the decorating is great.

My idea is to do the room like the waiting area for the Buzz Lightyear ride. You paint the bottom half of the wall purple with a foot tall border of gray around the middle and then paint the top lime green. The ceiling is navy blue with the stars that glow in the dark. On the wall you could put pictures or posters of the characters from buzz light year. You could also get the buzz lightyear tent from the disney store.

Some of my favorite pieces of Disney decoration are our framed puzzles. My MIL put together several of the mosaic Disney puzzles (Pooh, Mickey, Jungle Book, Snow White, that's all I remember off the top of my head) and glued them together. We had them framed and they now serve as wall art. They look great!

Wow!...these are all great!...I'll post some pictures when we are done, for sure!...(of course, this could take a while...so be patient ;)

When DS was born, we did his room in 101 Dalmatians. I bought a 101 Dalmatians book & coloring book, some clear acetate and checked out an overhead projector from the library. I found some pics I liked and traced them onto the acetate, projected them onto the wall, traced & painted them. It was super easy and so, so cute.

If you're like me, I'm sure you have plenty of Disney books & coloring books around your house and probably wouldn't have to buy anything but the acetate. The overhead projector was free. Cost was very minimal.

Also, alot of times at The Disney Store, when you order movies they will offer free lithographs with them. You could frame them also. I bet you could find alot of them on e-bay.

I'd love to see pictures when you get through.

I was just going to add you can do a search on posters on Ebay...like Mickey or Cinderella, etc. Those would be cool to frame for pictures. Or during your next trip spend $75 at World of Disney and get the cool lithograph! I'm planning to frame ours sometime soon.

I really like the others' ideas to do murals on the wall. We had an artist come in to paint on dd's bathroom walls. She now has an elephant brushing her teeth, three monkeys hanging from a tree, a tiger asleep above the towel bar, a cheetah asleep above the tub/shower, and a giraffe eating a leaf next the door. It really turned out great! And she loves it. Now she tells me she needs a giraffe in her bedroom!

I would do the whole room in one theme. How about Peter Pan? The Incredibles is fun now, but Peter Pan is a classic. It appeals to boys and girls. You can go for green walls and flooring without paying for specifically Disney colors. If you use natural wood furniture, that fits the look. You could have a Tinkerbelle/fairy corner, maybe a comfy chair with a green tulle canopy.

That is a great idea! Two episodes back, Extreme Home Makeover did a show with a little girl who loved Tinkerbell. The room was gorgeous! The mural they did of Peter, Wendy, and the boys flying around Big Ben was amazing. That would be an awesome way to decorate a fun room! With fantasy and imagination!!! Check www.nancyhadley.com. She was the artist. I just checked and she hasn't posted any pictures yet but maybe they'll have some soon. They also gave her a bed that looked like it was inside a latern just like Tink! Those people are so talented.

We have a bedroom done in disney theme, and we painted Mickey heads on the ceiling. Two sponges cut into circles do the trick!
:earsboy:

We also painted our Disney Toy Room ceiling light sky blue and made clouds (of course in the shape of hidden Mickeys!). The wall stickers at home depot are great and you can peel them right off for when the kids are older!

I did my girls room in Disney, sort of. I painted the ceiling and down the walls Nickolodean blue (from Lowe's) and then white puffy clouds for sky and then green "hills" and land at the bottom half of the walls. Then I painted a castle on the wall & Cinderella's carriage. I'm not an artist, but it wasn't all that difficult. I just downloaded a picture off line and tried to copy it. I think it would be easy to do boy/girl because you could add whatever characters you wanted.
