Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone had any fun/learning software for their kids to use? I don't normally let my dd play on the computer, but I thought this might be another way for her to learn, you know, like a supplement. She is always asking me about using the computer when she sees me using it, lol. We've been on the noggin website before and that was kind of cute.
Does anyone have any ideas or even websites? Thank you very much!

i work at a day care center and our kids LOVE I-spy games..(the computer will read the items they need to find and our kids will try to figure out what the words are)...They also use sesame street reading...i know we have more, ill check next week!

There are so many games available online that you should never need to buy software! :)

Lego, McDonald's, Nestle, Build-a-Bear, Care-Bears, My Little Ponym, Nick Jr., PBS Kids..... check the snacks in your pantry - the Wiggles have some good games for pre-readers.

Primarygames.com also has a large collection of games for all skill levels. They have a bunch of Willy Wonka games there that are lots of fun.

:) Have fun exploring!

Putt Putt, Pajama Sam and Freddi Fish are three of my DD's (almost 5) favorites. All 3 are by Humongous Entertainment and are plot - driven (e.g., some item is missing and needs to be found by our heroes) and has sequential logic puzzles (e.g, who do you need to talk to or what do you need to find to get this door open).

They're cute and a lot of fun and I bought mine for a few dollars on ebay.

Try the Jumpstart series. They are grade leveled and my kids and their friends have always LOVED them.

My DD6 has been playing the Barbie games for years!!

The most curent Barbie games are the best.

+Princess and the Pauper

+Barbie as Rapunzel

+Mermaid Barbie Adventure

+Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus

.....all excellent and ecucational. Very "smart" software. Can't say enough good things about the Barbie software. Very easy to use and install. I really feel like there's not a bad one out there and will always buy the newest Barbie games w/o reading reviews. I think you will be pleased. Not only are they educational but the music and graphics are beautiful.

We also are members on Leapfrog.com. for $20 a year you can have access to many educational games for your childs level. Great site. You can even download spelling lists onto a turbo spelling machine they sell in stores. We love the whole Leapfrog line.
Have fun! :goodvibes

Thanks, again...love the ideas!
cstraub Hmmm...my dd (and ds) love the leapad videos. I may have to take a look at their website. :)

My kids have always loved these games too. They're very entertaining, but very educational at the same time.

One thing to think about is that playing on the computer is not a bad thing. For the rest of her life, every job she will have will use a computer in some way. They start keyboarding in kindergarten in our kids' school. Using a mouse is also great for fine muscle control and eye/hand coordination. The computer is not a bad thing.

:thumbsup2 Agree on these, as well as the "Spy Fox" series also by Humongous. There is also Reader Rabbitt.

Freddi Fish & Putt-Putt are good. Reader Rabbit are also good (but more educational). MathBlaster games are good too - I don't think anyone else has mentioned them yet.
