Hi everyone! My family is planning on going on an 8 day trip to Disney world in January 2015. We are considering going the week of January 10th. Since it's so close to Christmas we want to surprise our younger dd7 (will be 8 on the trip) with the trip on Christmas morning. Our older dd16 already knows as she came up with the idea. This would be their big present but I was thinking about getting them each a new luggage set and filling them with Disney related things that are wrapped inside to surprise both of them. At the bottom of dd7's I will have an envelope that says surprise were going to disney. My only problem is I don't have many ideas to fill up a whole suitcase. So far I have
-an autograph book
-a starter pin lanyard
-beach ball
-new luggage sets
-Birnbaum guides
-travel size toiletries
-pajamas
I'm trying to think of things they will actually use on the trip. It's still really early but I want to get the things through out the year so that by the time Christmas comes I can just focus on getting myself organized for the trip. Any ideas of things I could put in the suitcase would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds great!:thumbsup2

Mickey Ears, shorts, T-shirts, sunglasses, Disney's free DVD trip planning video (if you already do not have it), Magic bands if they come in time.

I'm sure there are a thousand other things that you'll think of :) Best of luck!

Going along with the tshirt idea you could get them matching shirts that are embroidered with their names off Etsy. We did this for our girls first trip and they got a lot of wear out of them even after.

Agreed on mouse ears! Maybe a bathing suit...We swam in during our Dec/Jan visit in 2013. :) Flip flops too.

Mickey ears! How could I have forgotten? Thank you guys so much for the suggestions. I just went out to pick up a few things and found pink neck pillows for the plane for $3 each! I can't wait to see what else I come across before christmas!

I did the "present reveal" for my daughters' Christmas present this year. I did most of the same things that you listed. I also had purchased/made shirts or outfits for each day of the trip, so I included those as well.
One other suggestion - I had ordered the free customizable maps from the Disney site and included those in the present. My oldest has pulled out the maps almost every day so that she can look at them and "plan" what all she wants to do.

Disney themed toboggan, long sleeved tshirt, and hoodie for cooler days/nights. Now through Spring would be a good time of year to get things like this on clearance. Light up toys because the ones in the park are expensive. WDW gift card for souvenirs. Their own cameras. A small purse or fannie pack type of bag to carry their own stuff in the parks.

I'm trying to think of bigger things but nothing's coming to mind except Disney throws.

Thanks for the ideas. I never thought of throws! That would be good for the plane too! Ill have to look into those too :)

A countdown calendar/poster! If I opened that on Christmas, it'd kill me thinking we'd go straight there! Maybe make a handmade pad of paper where it has the days left?

I always got my kids (when they were younger) small toys to keep them occupied on the plane or while waiting for things on vacation. Since you are doing this for christmas there should be plenty of small things you can get that fit the bill. Also a fanny pack or back pack to put it all in. An autograph book and pen is something else he would need.

Here down a little farther is the Creative Design board and I know you will find many ideas from that. There is NO charge for any design. There are a few rules there tho, but, this creative design board will put Pixie Dust into action. They have coupons that you can print and fill once at Disney. I have made several tee shirts to wear each day. I always take glow sticks for each evening so that will be a great suitcase stuffer. How about her own bubble bath, Minnie socks ( Target always has them) plus, gum, as Disney doesn't sell it. Those are just a few of my thoughts. Good Luck and Happy Planning..
