Ideas for a pot luck halloween party?

I have never been to one and I am clueless on what to make, any ideas?

Want to make a main dish? We did pounded chicken breasts down and put them on skewers broiled them and then covered with peanut satay sauce and called it Squirrel on a Stick.

We found it is more in what you call a dish than what it looks like or is. A Frito Pie was Ground Adam (her husband) with Crunch Fried Larvae. Be creative in your naming of a dish.

For a dessert you could make long thin sugar cookies and add an almost sliver colored red with food coloring to look like a fingers. We have also done the same thing with pretzel rods and white chocolate. Melt the white chocolate dip in one end and add the almond fingernail.

Hope this helps some. :)

Were you asked to bring a specific item, like an appetizer, or a main dish?

Things in the crock pot usually work well, like meatballs and sauce, or some sort of dip.

if you bring a dessert, the trifle-type desserts are always popular. You can use chocolate cake, pudding, cool whip and heath bars. Just google it, or go to kraft web site for the recipe.

I don't have the recipe on hand but we had our annual halloween party this past weekend. We go all out.

One thing I made that was a huge hit were "Hairy Green Witch fingers"

I made bread dough from scratch which took no time at all. Added 1/4 TSP green food coloring, 1 TSP italian seasoning, 1/4 Cup Grated Parmasean Cheese, 1/4 tsp garlic powder also. After the dough rises punch it down and form into 10 inch strips and cut in half. Brush with egg white. Use 1 sliced almond for a finger nail and sprinkly some shredded parmasean cheese on the dough for the "hair". bake for 8 - 10 minutes and they are great. Serve with maranara sauce for dipping.

yes, I am looking for a main meal plus I would most likely make a dessert :thumbsup2

One cute thing I have done is to hollow out a pumpkin and use it as a bowl. Line it with foil and then put in chili or a thick stew and serve from there.

monster toes - think "pigs in a blanket" using coctail wenies, slice a bit off the end and add a dot of katsup.

brain dip - cooked hamburger, one block of velvetta cheese and a jar of salsa.. served in a crock pot.

i saw a pic of those witch fingers on a friends facebook the other day and they looked totally awesome!! she had them served on a black platter with a plastic butcher knife..

if it's a kid party you could make tootsie pop bones as a "desert", just take four tootsie pops, stick two together and the other two together to make a bone shape and wrap with white streamer, a plate of those look really cool too.

we are going to a party saturday nite and i'm making the top two and the bottom one.. really want to try the fingers but not sure if i'm going to feel talented enuf!!

For dessert, you could make rice krispie treats- but in the shapes of pumpkins. Use orange food dye, roll the rice krispie treat into a ball, and use a toostie roll as the stem.
