Ideal time for less traffic on a Sat?

Hi! Our trip in Sept has us leaving Anaheim on a Sat. We are not used to the traffic, and want to avoid as much as possible. We are taking I-5 back to Oregon. When we arrive, we are getting in at 2 or 3 in the morning, so that should be fine, but wonder when is the best time to leave Sat. We may have to wait until after the YES class on Sat, getting over around noon I guess. If they cancel it, we can leave whenever we want to. Any help from those who have experience with the traffic there will be appreciated. Thanks!

We've found traffic on the 5 North can be pretty bad leaving DL on Saturdays (we usually leave between 1:00pm and 3:00pm). We left at 12:30pm last Saturday and it wasn't too bad. It seems that Saturday seems to have its own rush hour now just like M-F.

You can take the 57 north to the 210 West and then get on the 5 right before the Stevenson Ranch/Valencia area.

The traffic flows much better taking this route if the 5 is backed up and busy.

Traffic flow is usually reversed on weekends as compared to weekdays.

Early afternoon to evening can get very busy going towards LA on Saturdays (which in your case is going up the I-5 north)

As mentioned you can take the 57 north up to 210 west and hit the 5 long after the backup going towards LA

Thank you for the replies and helpful suggestions. I'm getting the idea that earlier is generally better on a Sat. We will keep that in mind when heading out. We have a GPS, but I'm not sure we are brave enough to try a different route.
